Meet Rachel Scruggs

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Scruggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to bring brands to life through in-person experiences and activations. I’ve spent over six years in marketing, building the online presence for brands, and while I love what I do digitally, I know the real magic happens when people can interact with a brand in person. COVID showed us how much we crave connection, and there’s no better way to connect with your favorite brands than through experiences that are fun, memorable, and personal.
At Radiance Events, we transform interactions into experiences through event design, production, and experiential design. We bring our clients’ visions to life while connecting brands and audiences beyond digital touchpoints. From interactive installations and product displays to creative activations that drive engagement, we focus on creating moments that leave a lasting impression.
I love designing birthday parties and other events, but I know I’m called to more. I cannot wait for the day when Nike, Pattern, or Sir Davis are calling us to activate at concerts, pop-ups, or new product launches. Radiance Events will be the go-to for brand activations. Our goal is to build brands while creating a company where people like me can express themselves and engage creatively on their own time.
We understand reaching this vision takes time, and we’re ready for the journey. Every event, every activation, and every connection is a step toward the future we’re excited to create.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got my start in marketing in 2019, drawn by a lifelong passion for storytelling. The rise of social media at that time was the perfect outlet—I could tell a brand’s story through pictures and text on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. While working in marketing, I realized how much joy I get from creating events and decorating; it’s something that has always fueled my creativity.
What sets me apart is that I can’t easily be boxed into a single role—I’m a woman of many talents. I can build brands online, design experiences in person, and bring creativity to multiple spaces at once. A layoff during COVID challenged me but also became the catalyst to launch Radiance Events, and I haven’t hit the brakes since. What started as a girl just trying to learn balloons and small table decor has grown into a full-fledged business where I get to transform ideas into experiences.
I’m most proud of building something from the ground up. There are days when I wonder if I should stick to a 9-5, but the truth is, I love what I do. Radiance Events is more than a business—it’s a space where creativity meets connection, where brands and people can engage meaningfully, and where my story and vision come to life.
The lesson I’ve learned along the way is that growth isn’t linear, and resilience is everything. I want the world to know that my brand is about passion, versatility, and creating moments that matter—online, in person, and everywhere in between.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, the perfect Friday night would start with Winsome Prime for an early dinner and drinks, then Chocolate Secrets for live jazz, and end at a rooftop bar like Catbird to enjoy the city lights. Good food, live music, and rooftop views, that’s my ideal way to show someone a great time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom is my biggest inspiration
