What habits do you feel helped you succeed?

Allowing myself to imagine and dream. That seems obvious, but coming off of a left-brain career, sometimes I feel like I’m still scraping the rust off of my imagination.
Regular exercise. I like walking on the Trinity River for a few miles a day. Nothing crazy, but it helps so much. My mental health is so much better when I’m walking, and that translates into better writing sessions. Read More>>

One of the biggest habits that’s helped me succeed is saying yes to opportunities that didn’t necessarily bring immediate money, but built long term relationships and trust. Whether it was helping out on a project, filming something extra, or just showing up when people needed me with those moments created real connections. A lot of my work today comes from those relationships and the trust that grew out of being willing to go the extra mile.
