Meet “Bloody Mari” And Cameron Dahl | Social Media Marketing for the Eery, Artsy, and Underground

We had the good fortune of connecting with “Bloody Mari” And Cameron Dahl and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi “Bloody Mari” and Cameron, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born into an artist family in Fort Worth. My mom had a huge impact on me! She was very adamant about not partaking in activities for validation, but instead for self expression. I danced and was in community theatre for 17 years. I think constantly being exposed to different types of art and surrounding myself with other artists shaped how I wanted to spend my life. – Bloody Mari
I grew up in Florida surrounded by family from all walks of life. One of my uncles was and still is a very talented filmmaker. He would join my family for our family vacations and for better or for worse document it all in high definition. This sparked a curiosity in the art of filmmaking and the way moments are captured versus the way they are remembered which still inspires the way I live to this day. – Cameron

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Cameron and I met right after I moved back from LA. That last year I spent out of Dallas was a major turning point in my life. I was incredibly isolated and creatively drained. So, having returned to the city I hadn’t been in for a few years felt very confusing and almost like this huge blow.
We instantly bonded over film and all the “hidden gems” within the city. Through reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and rediscovering the community I loved so much growing up, I knew I wanted a place to put it all. I felt people needed to see beyond what was trendy or going viral. The music scene in Dallas is near and dear to my heart. The horror community is incredibly tight knit and home to my closest friends. We created The Haunt Spot to share fun spaces that are safe to be who you truly are. For the freaks, by the freaks.
Our overall message is that if you’ve ever felt you didn’t belong, you belong here and we want to help you find spaces that reflect these values.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so much! Obviously, we have to go to Horror Freak. I grew up going here as a teenager. I’ve personally worked with Eric. He’s one of the most genuinely kind people in the horror community. It’s always such a treat getting to visit the shop and see how much its grown. And since we’re already in H.E.B, we might as well stop by Little Plank Vintage and Rag N Bone for thrifting and checking out some vinyl. We’d head back to the Dallas area and stop by Elm Street Toys for more horror shopping. They have an insane collection and are constantly traveling to conventions. They’re a big part of the horror community out here and cannot recommend them enough.
If we want a chill night of drinks, we can either go to Fizz for the best dirty martini I’ve ever had in my life. Atlas is also perfect for that dark toned lounge, especially during Halloween. They go all out in the fall!
If they’re up for a fun night out, Sue Ellen’s a must! The most fun, welcoming atmosphere. If it’s the beginning of the month, we are absolutely going to Nightshade Burlesque. They represent everything we talk about at The Haunt Spot. Supportive, warm, kind, and SO much fun! The talent in DFW is unmatched. We can also go watch some local bands at Club Dada. I spent most of my early 20s making my closest friends at these shows. It’s such an intimate and lively venue.
The theatre scene has a special place in my heart, as this is where I spent my childhood and teen years. Getting tickets or checking out events for Stage West, Artes de la Rosa, and Amphibian will always be my go-to’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d love to dedicate this time for several people who have been nothing but supportive and loving, not only for The Haunt Spot, but in life and all creative endeavors. Bloody Mari’s mom, Jennifer, for being an inspiration, a huge support, and true artist at heart. To the Cinemeal team, for being our rocks. They’re not only incredible creatives, but genuine friends who continue to show up for us. To Marc Dahl, for showing how art can connect us all when it comes from a place of love and understanding.
