Meet Sarah Strackhouse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Strackhouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
When it comes to balance, I don’t believe there is truly one perfect way to balance all aspects of your life. If you compartmentalize pieces of your life into a pie chart: Spiritual, relationship, children, work, health, friendship, etc. most people want to make each piece of the pie equal when in fact, some days and some weeks you’ll need to prioritize one slice over another. I think evaluating and making sure each slice has it’s time to shine is the only real way to achieve balance, and that takes time and focus.

What should our readers know about your business?
Strackhouse Media was born out of both passion and frustration. After years of working in TV newsrooms—reporting, producing, anchoring, even doing my own videography and graphics—I realized there was a massive gap between how stories could be told and how most businesses or individuals were telling theirs. I knew I could bridge that gap. I also saw so many amazing voices being overlooked simply because they didn’t have the assets, confidence, or connections to show up in the media or on stage in a powerful way.
So I started Strackhouse Media—a woman-owned, WBENC-certified multimedia company based in Texas—with a mission to help people and brands become more visible, credible, and polished through professional media training, AV production, and content creation.
What sets us apart is that we’re not just a media company—we’re a team of storytellers, strategists, and former journalists who know how to elevate someone’s presence and message without making it feel fake or overproduced. We bring a high level of professionalism and heart to everything we do, whether it’s live-streaming a multi-camera event, coaching a client for national TV, or producing content that helps someone land their next big opportunity.
It definitely hasn’t been easy. Like any business owner, I’ve had seasons where I questioned whether I could keep up with the demands—especially while juggling family life and building a team. But I’ve learned that resilience, clarity of vision, and surrounding yourself with the right people make all the difference. I’ve also learned to trust my gut and lean into what makes us different, rather than trying to fit a traditional agency mold.
What I want the world to know is that visibility shouldn’t be reserved for the few. Everyone has a story that deserves to be told powerfully and professionally. At Strackhouse, we make that happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting DFW for a week, I’d plan an itinerary that blends the heart of Texas culture with some of the most exciting spots in the metroplex. People love to learn about Texas—and nothing beats the look on their face the first time they see real cowboy boots and hats being worn unironically. So of course, we’d make time for all of it: the modern, the authentic, and the uniquely Texan.
Day 1: Legacy West – Plano
We’d kick things off in Legacy West—grab coffee at [Fiction Coffee or Starbucks Reserve], shop some luxe boutiques, and maybe sneak in a little people-watching. Then lunch at Haywire, where you get elevated Texas cuisine with a rooftop view. At night, we’d hit Legacy Hall for live music, drinks, and a food stall crawl.
Day 2: Grandscape – The Colony
Grandscape is a must! It’s a playground for adults—especially out-of-towners. We’d explore Nebraska Furniture Mart (it’s basically its own city), ride the Texas Ferris Wheel, and book a late dinner at Seven Doors Kitchen & Cocktails or Twigs. If it’s the weekend, we’d catch a concert at Lava Cantina.
Day 3: Fort Worth Stockyards
This is where Texas really comes alive. We’d stroll through the Stockyards, see the daily cattle drive, and stop into M.L. Leddy’s to try on real cowboy boots and hats (and maybe buy one if the mood hits!). Dinner would absolutely be at Cooper’s BBQ—get the brisket, and thank me later. Bonus points for catching a rodeo or live country band afterward.
Day 4: Deep Ellum & Downtown Dallas
We’d venture into Dallas proper—check out the murals and artsy vibes in Deep Ellum, grab lunch at Pecan Lodge (more award-winning BBQ), and maybe explore the Dallas Museum of Art or Perot Museum if they’re into that. Drinks at The Statler rooftop or Midnight Rambler are always a good move.
Day 5: Bishop Arts District
One of my favorite areas—quirky shops, great coffee, and local flair. We’d grab brunch at Oddfellows, walk around the indie stores, and maybe take home a few Texas-themed gifts. Dinner at Tejas or Paradiso, then live music at The Kessler Theater if we’re lucky.
Day 6: Nature & Chill
Depending on the season, maybe a walk around Arbor Hills, Katy Trail, or even a lake day at White Rock Lake. Dinner would be chill—maybe a patio moment at The Rustic with live acoustic music under the stars.
Day 7: Spa or Shopping + Farewell Dinner
We’d book massages or facials at Hiatus Spa or Woodhouse, then end with a final shopping trip—either at NorthPark Center for upscale fashion or Frisco’s Stonebriar Centre for a mix of everything. For our sendoff dinner, I’d go big with a reservation at Nick & Sam’s or Del Frisco’s Double Eagle—a true Texas steakhouse experience.
What I love about DFW is the mix of modern energy and authentic charm. Whether someone wants boots and BBQ or luxury and nightlife, it’s all here—and you can do it all in one week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my parents. They truly set the foundation for everything I’ve been able to do. They worked incredibly hard—sacrificing so much—to make sure I had access to good schools, enriching extracurriculars, and every opportunity to thrive. They never missed a performance, a game, or a big moment, and that kind of steady, unwavering support gave me both confidence and drive. Their work ethic and commitment to showing up continue to inspire how I approach my own life and goals.
