We had the good fortune of connecting with AV Vaghela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AV, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The single most important factor behind our success is simply not quitting. Anytime you are in business for yourself or work on commissions only- it’s going to be hard the first few years. It generally takes 3 years to break even and 5 years to be profitable. Most people quit right before success because when the going gets tough…. the tough get goin’. Be tough…and never quit. Now don’t be stupid- Reevaluate at the 3 year mark and if your head is above water- keep going to the 5 year mark to reach extreme success but if you are drowning- then it’s probably best to throw in the towel.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets us apart from others is our knowledge of mortgage guidelines and the process our client goes thru when they come to us. It’s simple, tech savvy, and personal all at the same time. I am most proud of our teams growth and reputation in the industry as being one of the best in the business. We have won numerous awards and continue to be a top producing team within our organization. Building anything great always has struggles and challenges and it isn’t easy, but we take each upcoming problem head on and find proactive solutions before it becomes an issue. A few things I have learned along the way: Nobody cares what you know or what you say until they know you care about them.  We care about our team and our clients.  Another great lesson I learned is it’s always darkest before dawn- so when you feel like it couldn’t get any worse and you want to throw in the towel- forge ahead- success is right around the corner. 97% of people throw in the towel…be the 3%. What I want the world to know about our story is when we started in this business over a decade ago by referral only. To this day we are by referral only. We have never purchased a single lead online or data to market ourselves. It is and has always been word of mouth based on realtor and past clients experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Other than my backyard oasis…. Let’s eat at Tricky Fish Let’s drink and watch sports at Texas Live Let’s catch a TX Rangers Game Let’s catch a concert or game at American Airlines Center in our company Suite Let’s go dancing on McKinney Ave in Uptown

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout is to my team. My wife Nikki Vaghela and our Loan Partner Allie Bautista along with Highlands Mortgage are the reason we thrive in difficult times. Their knowledge and customer serving in the mortgage lending industry are second to none and their positive attitudes are contagious. They truly are 1 in a million and deserve all the credit.
