Meet Erin Beatty | Partner & Social Media Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Beatty and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting our own business was to get out of the jobs we hated. We wanted to work in the industry we love, with people we love and serve others better than we were being served. Erin was in a corporate job that kept her behind a cubicle and Jon worked for an automotive shop with no room for growth or opportunity. We knew there was something better out there for us, instead of looking for it through someone else, we decided to create it.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is called The Refinery Detail Supply House. We are a local family owned business established in 2021, we first opened our doors in February 2022 and it has been a roller coaster since! Not just the ups and downs that comes along with a business, the struggles we have had did set us up to become who we are. We did not know that at the time but looking back, those struggles put us where we need to be.
We are an automotive detail supply store serving DFW in 2 locations and online. We started out as a franchise in 2022, rebranded in February 2024 and rebranded again to The Refinery in January 2025. That means we have been 3 different business names in roughly 3 years. This is not what we expected when we started our business. With the original franchise we realized we were not able to serve our clients or new clients due to the limited product choice the franchise offered. We decided in order for our business to grow and to truly serve others, we needed to make a change. In November 2023, we started exploring options and settled on a new agreement with Detailing World. This change brought in new brands and various options for DIY and professional detailers. Ultimately this agreement was too restrictive and not flexible enough for us to serve our clients and have a successful business. At this point we had tried 2 models designed by others, neither of which worked out. It was time to design our own model and make this business what we truly wanted it to be. The Refinery Detail Supply House came from weeks of brain storming ideas not just to rename ourselves but to actually mean something to us. If you know what a “refinery” is, you know it transforms raw material into valuable products. We see our business as the way to transform peoples vehicles into perfection. As we have been refining our business through the years, people can come to our store to refine their vehicles.
People need to know that we are not just any automotive detail supply store, we are a true resource for those who are starting a detailing business, DIY warriors who want better products than what’s on general consumer shelves, for those who love car meets and family friendly events. We offer hands-on training classes at affordable rates so you don’t have to be educated by the internet. We connect you with other professionals so you can grow and build your network. We make recommendations to those in need of a detailer and we support local non-profits every month at our car meets. We don’t know any other business who offers as much support to their client base and the community than The Refinery Detail Supply House.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For people visiting the DFW area we like to take them up to Lake Texoma to float, swim, wake board, all the lake activities. Nights out are spent at Legacy West dining and shopping and being entertained at the Legacy Box Garden. A trip out to the Fort Worth stock yards is a must and dropping by Panther Island Pavilion is the place for live music. Of course you have to take people to The Star in Frisco, visit every activity available in Grandscape then relax at The Truck Yard. A trip to Dallas includes stopping for a tour at The Shop Club, the museum at Dealey Plaza and exploring the Perot Museum. Dallas-Fort Worth has all the right places to keep you busy, entertained and fed for weeks on end. Our go-to place for BBQ is Tender Smokehouse and for margarita’s it’s Gloria’s. There is something for everyone here and we love showing people all DFW has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This Shoutout goes to our friends and family. Without the core group of people surrounding us in our early days, we may not have made it where we are. The support from Erin’s parents, Joe & Helena who work in the business with Jon and Erin, has been tremendous! The past 3.5 years has not always been smooth, their dedicated work in the business has helped us establish and grow relationships with the community, educate others and build trust among our client base. Our friends who never wavered through our busy times, rescheduling of plans and those who cared for our son on days when we worked. The friends and family who volunteer at our car meets to ensure a fun event for everyone make a big impact. We are grateful to everyone who has dedicated time to help us grow, especially our clients who show their support through little things like bringing donations that help us support local non-profits, attending our monthly car meets and referrals. There is no greater compliment than word of mouth recommendations.
Something that really pushed us forward in 2024 was reading the book The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. It’s about massive action, we don’t make all the right decisions but we do take action. From that action we either grow or we learn, then take action again and again. Lead Like Jesus by by Ken Blanchard has helped to stay grounded and focused on the right things, keep your eyes on the Lord and the rest will fall into place.
