We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef AC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chef, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is my relationship with God. After graduating and struggling to find a job, my faith kept me grounded and led me back to my roots in cooking. What began as a means to survive became a calling fueled by faith and ambition through many challenges.

Saying “yes” to this path brought uncertainty, but God remained my constant source of peace, purpose, and stability. Building my business became more than a career. It became therapy, creativity, and a deep connection to my heritage.

I don’t do this just for me, but to honor my purpose and the loved ones I’ve lost. Staying true to my vision, being bold despite the unknown, and working consistently have been essential. My brand is about more than food. It’s about soul, story, and serving excellence.

Success came from perseverance, faith, and passion. Showing up even when no one was watching, trusting God to open doors, and putting my whole heart into everything I create.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is expressed through food, fashion, and storytelling. I am more than a cook. I am a chef. I am more than a personal chef, a content creator, or a culinary fashion designer. I don’t just cook meals. I create experiences that feed both the body and the soul. I share who I am behind every dish. As a traveling personal chef and the founder of The Soul of American Cuisines and Culinary Curves™, I combine Southern roots, bold flavors, luxury presentation, and intentional creativity in everything I do.

My creativity shines through in my ability to craft cuisines that feel personal, transforming meals into meaningful experiences. I blend tradition with innovation, serving flavor on a platter of healing, memory, and purpose. One of the things I’m most proud of is my determination to remain steadfast and steward my vision even in the face of uncertainty and hardship.

After graduating college during the pandemic and being unable to find a job, I faced deep struggles including being scammed by a company that left me displaced, searching for purpose, and bouncing from couch to couch. But in the middle of that storm, God led me back to cooking. What started as survival became purpose. My kitchen became my sanctuary, my art studio, my culinary lab. Building my business became a path of healing.

I eventually came to understand that bouncing from couch to couch was not just struggle. It was sharpening. It kept me focused, kept me from becoming complacent with where I was, and fueled my motivation to change my situation. The support I received during that time helped me persevere. It marked the ending of one unimaginable chapter and the beginning of another. It was a challenge, yes, but also a doorway to a new beginning that I didn’t see coming.

I overcame challenges through obedience, faith, consistency, and creativity. I kept showing up, learning, evolving, and serving with love even when no one was watching. I’ve learned that purpose doesn’t always come packaged neatly. It’s often born from pressure. One of the greatest lessons I’ve carried is that alignment matters more than attention, and sometimes stillness is the answer.

In a world that glorifies constant performance and productivity, I’ve realized that while faith without works is dead, pouring from an empty cup fills no one. Consistency and action are just as important as patience, clarity, and direction, and sometimes those can only be found in your quiet place. When you’re aligned with your calling, everything begins to make sense even the pain.

Today, I’ve become The Chef in The Dress, a woman who, in just four years, became a traveling personal chef, content creator, restaurant consultant, culinary fashion designer, and food reviewer, all rooted in passion. While it may sound like a lot and often looks like success, being an entrepreneur is not always easy to balance. There are sowing seasons and there are flourishing seasons. The sowing prepares you for the harvest, and your perspective determines how you endure both.

On this journey of faith and purpose, God called me to relocate and expand to Dallas, Texas, and I’ve embraced the challenge with faith, courage, boldness, and grace. I’m truly excited about these new beginnings, the expansion, and the growth ahead, especially here throughout the Lone Star State. I look forward to seeing my story mature and unfold, knowing that the best chapters are still being written.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Dallas, I’d plan a week full of soul, fun, and good food, and since we’re basically the same person, it would be right up our alley.

Our first stop would be Prayer Mountain to reset and feel God’s presence, it is an absolute must. The hike is peaceful, and the view is comforting. Then of course, we’d have a spa day at WorldSprings Spa and take a quick getaway to WinStar Casino & Spa for some peace, debriefing, and a little luxury.

Food is a must as we are definitely foodies, so we’d hit Pizzana for pizza and Caesar salad. Their pizza croutons are so creative and honestly one of the best touches. Then we’d head to Hutchins BBQ for those famous Texas Twinkies and their warm peach cobbler. Thank me later.

I’d have to show her around the outskirts, Legacy Hall, The Star, and definitely catch a Cowboys, Mavs, or Wings game to give her the full Dallas experience. For a chill night, we’d watch a rooftop movie and then grab dinner at Lyla for the vibes, amazing food, and ambiance.

And of course, she wouldn’t leave until I cooked my signature dishes just for her, my Brown Sugar Dusted French Toast and a home-cooked dinner. Honestly, she’d probably change her entire flight if I didn’t.

Dallas has so much to offer, and it’s hard to experience it all in just one week. So one thing’s for sure, she’d definitely be back for more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to first dedicate my shoutout to God, the true source of my strength, creativity, and purpose. None of this would be possible without Him.

I’m deeply grateful for my family including my mother, my late grandmother Loretta, my late aunt Octavia, and my father who has shown me what it means to fight through adversity with faith and determination.

I also honor the loved ones I’ve lost including Diondre Overton, my little one Irelynd Joyus Overton, and Camryn Olivia Price. Their light and belief in me continue to fuel my purpose and the legacy of my brand.

To my early clients and supporters, thank you. Every word of encouragement, booking, and share helped build the foundation I stand on today.

And to every bold, fearless woman in the culinary world, Culinary Curves™ was created for you. To remind us we can cook with passion, serve with style, and lead with purpose.
