Meet Ajmal Memon | Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ajmal Memon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ajmal, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Working at Micro Center for four years was one of the best experiences of my career. It gave me a strong foundation in computer hardware, customer service, and tech sales. I built custom PCs, diagnosed a wide range of issues, and helped thousands of customers — whether they were gamers, students, or business professionals. It was there that I realized how much I enjoyed solving tech problems and helping people feel confident in their devices.
That experience inspired me to take the next step. I got a couple of my friends together and we started The Tech Guys. Our goal wasn’t just to repair computers — we wanted to create a different kind of repair shop. One that was honest, approachable, and focused on the customer. We built our business around key values: clear communication, fair pricing, and our “No Fix, No Pay” policy, which means if we can’t solve the issue, the customer doesn’t owe us anything.
We also make it a priority to educate our customers. Whether it’s explaining what went wrong or giving tips to avoid future issues, we want people to leave with more knowledge than they came in with. That trust and transparency is what sets us apart and keeps people coming back.
Since starting The Tech Guys, I’ve worn every hat — technician, delivery driver, operations manager — and it’s been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I credit Micro Center for laying the groundwork, and I’m proud to use those skills to build something of my own that serves the community every day.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been shaped by technical experience, leadership, and a deep commitment to building systems and processes. I started at Micro Center, where I spent four years learning everything I could about computer hardware, customer service, and PC building. It was more than just retail — it was where I developed the foundation that would eventually allow me to launch The Tech Guys. After leaving Micro Center, I began running the business while continuing to grow professionally in other roles.
I entered the manufacturing industry shortly after — starting as a Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern in HVAC manufacturing. During that time, I was also in school and running The Tech Guys simultaneously. Balancing all three taught me how to manage my time, prioritize under pressure, and stay disciplined. I then worked as a Launch Engineer in automotive interior manufacturing, and currently, I’m a Production Supervisor in medical device manufacturing, where I lead a large team and oversee daily floor operations.
Through all of this, I never stopped building The Tech Guys. Together with my business partner, Mohammad Talal Shaikh, we took the operational knowledge I gained from manufacturing and used it to structure the business. We designed systems, created processes, and built out workflows to make the business run like a well-organized production floor — focused on speed, consistency, and quality. We spent countless nights setting up the new location and laying the groundwork for a customer experience that’s efficient and dependable.
What I want the world to know is this: our brand was built from the ground up, with hard work, real experience, and a deep belief in doing things the right way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Dallas for a week, I’d make sure they really got to see the city the way I experience it.
We’d definitely start off with Fiery Hot Chicken in Plano — that’s one of my go-to spots, and it’s a great way to kick off the trip with something memorable. After that, I’d show them around Richardson, since that’s where I grew up. We’d grab a burger from Yummy Burger, probably catch up and hang out somewhere chill.
At some point during the week, we’d spend a full day in downtown Dallas — walking around, checking out the architecture, and stopping by the Dallas World Aquarium. If there’s a Mavs game that night, we’re going. That’s always something I try to fit in when I can.
Of course, we’d hit up NorthPark or Stonebriar Mall during the week. We’d walk around, do a little shopping, grab lunch at Porto’s Peri Peri, and maybe end the day with Madina Shawarma in Richardson — one of the most consistent spots for good food.
We’d also have to get some time on the UTD outdoor basketball courts, just to shoot around and get competitive for a bit.
One day would be dedicated to Six Flags — just full-on fun, no responsibilities. And after that, we’d head to Legacy West or Grandscape in the evening to wind down with some good food and conversation.
And of course, I’d take them to Noodle Wave at some point — that place never disappoints. I am a food person as you can tell.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my wife who’s always been there for me and has motivated me throughout this journey.
I want to give a shoutout to Mohammad Talal Shaikh. We first met when I was looking for someone to help with marketing for The Tech Guys, and from day one, Talal understood the vision and genuinely believed in what I was trying to build. He brought in fresh ideas, helped run ads, worked on branding, and really elevated our presence in the community.
Eventually, Talal joined as my business partner, and that marked a new chapter for The Tech Guys. We made the decision to start from scratch — secured a new location and began rebuilding the business from the ground up. For months, we worked together, sacrificing our time and staying countless late nights — sometimes until midnight — setting up equipment, reorganizing systems, and building a solid foundation for the future. His support and dedication during that time played a major role in helping The Tech Guys become what it is today.
I also want to thank my parents. Everything I’ve been able to accomplish — in business and in life — is rooted in the values they instilled in me. They shaped me into the confident, driven, and grounded person I am today. Their support, hard work, and example laid the foundation for everything I stand for.
