Meet Shay Olugboji | Event Planner and Decorator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shay Olugboji and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shay, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and brought up in Ibadan, Nigeria. My dad always encouraged us owning businesses and making our own money. He gave my sister the idea of having event hostesses for his friend’s book launch. And that was how the Event business started. I worked with my sister as her assistant and/or supervisor for years and that was how I got the passion for Event Management.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Having an events planning and decoration business is not easy at all. It wasn’t something I planned, I literally just fell into it. Making centerpieces, organizing inventory, and so many things we have to do before and after events is very exhausting especially when it’s an individual owned business. But, passion and love for what I do makes it all easy. I couldn’t have made it this far without God’s help and of course with the amazing team he has blessed me with.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe it all to God who has blessed me with creativity and for giving me daily inspiration through the Holy Spirit. Shout out to my sister Ife’ctiv Touch Events for giving me the foundation I needed to start my own Events Business. Shout out to the CSE team for their hardwork. Shout out to Events by Leesa. Shout out to every event planner and every client that has kept us in business.
