Meet Denys Kavaler | Emergency plumbing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Denys Kavaler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Denys, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Most people think plumbing is just about fixing leaks or installing fixtures. But in reality, a big part of what we do is emergency response and that’s something outsiders rarely understand.
When a pipe bursts in the middle of the night or a water heater starts flooding a house on a Sunday, it’s not just an inconvenience – it’s a crisis. And while many companies advertise “24/7 service,” most don’t pick up after hours. That’s where we step in.
It’s not glamorous. We crawl into flooded crawlspaces, climb into frozen attics at 3am, and shut off water while it’s still pouring through ceilings. We don’t wait until Monday. We go now – because waiting means more damage, more money, and more stress for the customer.
What most people don’t see is that emergency plumbing is physically demanding, unpredictable, and mentally exhausting. But it matters. Every job we take helps prevent serious property loss and keeps families and businesses safe.
That’s why I built my company around being available when no one else is.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
FPP Plumbing started with a phone, some tools in the back of my van, and zero ad budget. No loans, no help – just me trying to actually show up when people were in trouble and couldn’t get a plumber to answer. Now we’ve got a licensed crew, an office, steady clients, media features, and hundreds of real reviews.
What sets us apart? We actually show up – nights, weekends, freeze storms. We don’t push people off for three days or ghost them. We show up, figure it out, and fix it. No overcomplicated talk, just straight answers and real work.
Running this business was never easy. Every part of it – hiring, licenses, trucks, insurance, marketing – it was all on me. And yeah, it was scary sometimes. But step by step, we grew. I learned to trust myself, to reinvest every dollar, and to keep going even when it was hard.
What I’m proud of most? FPP Plumbing doesn’t just install stuff – we save homes from real emergencies. People call us in panic, and we handle it. That’s the whole mission.
I want people to remember one thing: this isn’t just a plumbing company. This is a crew that shows up when others won’t.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting North Dallas for a week, I’d show them around Frisco, Plano, and McKinney – there’s actually a lot of cool stuff here.
We’d start at Legacy West in Plano – great food, cool vibe, and a solid place to walk around. For lunch, probably JOEY or North Italia. For dinner one night – Haywire or Del Frisco’s in Legacy, or Mi Cocina if we’re keeping it more chill.
We’d definitely hit The Star in Frisco – cool spot if you’re into football, but also tons of shops, restaurants, bars.
If we’re going out for fun, we’d check out Truck Yard in The Colony – it’s casual, live music, food trucks. Very Texas. And for something more lowkey, downtown McKinney has a nice historic vibe and good spots to eat or grab a drink.
Oh – and if we’re talking breakfast, Starwood Café in Frisco. That’s the move.
Basically, I’d just show them the real side of North Texas. Not the touristy stuff – just good food, good places, and the everyday things locals actually enjoy.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to recognize the people who’ve helped me hold this business together, especially when things were at their hardest. My wife – she’s been involved since day one. She’s handled the phones, kept the paperwork from piling up, and stayed calm when everything else was chaos. My son, too – he’s still young, but he watches everything. He sees the nights I come home late, the times I leave in a rush. He’s part of why I keep pushing forward.
Also, big respect to the local community. The clients who trust us enough to call in the middle of the night. The people who leave honest reviews and recommend us to friends — that loyalty has real value to a small company like ours. And the contractors we work alongside – HVAC teams, restoration crews, electricians – we all have the same goal: show up when it matters.
No one builds anything alone. I’m proud of the work I do, but I’m even more proud of the people I get to do it with.
