We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominiqua Alice Jobson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominiqua Alice, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all started during the pandemic. Like many of us, I was stuck at home, surrounded by silence but filled with noise. The stillness felt foreign, even claustrophobic at times. I began to feel anxious, overwhelmed by the weight of uncertainty.

To cope, I turned my feelings into words.

At first, I was simply expressing myself. But the more I wrote, the more my thoughts began to take shape—softly, naturally—into poems. I didn’t intend for it to become poetry. It just happened. Each piece helped me breathe a little easier, and before I knew it, writing became my sanctuary.

I fell in love with the process. I realized I wasn’t just writing—I was healing.

Fast forward to 2025, I published my very first poetry book on Amazon. It’s still early days, but I’m incredibly proud of this beginning. My hope is that my words find the people who need them most.

I’m also working on my second book: an affirmation collection. Because if writing helped me navigate anxiety and self-doubt, maybe it can do the same for someone else. That was my goal from the start—to help myself first, and in doing so, offer something that might help others too. That’s how my brand ”Nuanced” (@nuancedofficial) was created.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I really fell in love with the creative side of social media, and that’s what drew me into the content creation space. It’s honestly such a fun experience. I love working with brands, especially the ones I’ve admired for so long. Getting to collaborate with them feels like a dream come true — honestly, it still feels like a pinch-me moment every time it happens. I feel incredibly blessed to be in this space.
That said, content creation is more than just a career for me—it’s an outlet. While I’m also in law school, which is incredibly structured and doesn’t leave much room for creativity, creating content and writing give me the freedom I need to express myself. It’s the perfect balance, allowing me to tap into both the logical side of my brain for law and the creative side for everything else I do.

What truly sets me apart is my identity as a brown-skinned woman living in Austria. In many of the creative spaces I step into, I’m often the only person who looks like me. Being Zimbabwean, South African, and Indian in a country like Austria brings its own set of challenges, but also incredible strength. As an author, digital creator, YouTuber, law student, and soon-to-be lawyer, my diverse background gives me a perspective that is both rare and valuable.
There’s a unique beauty in embracing what makes you different, and I’ve learned to celebrate my individuality. It’s not just about standing out—it’s about representing voices and stories that often go unheard, and I’m proud to be able to do that. I’m not just a part of the creative community in Austria; I’m also shaping it in my own way, and that’s something I’m incredibly grateful for.

Being in both the creative field and the highly structured legal field has really opened my eyes to how layered we are as humans. It’s like slowly peeling back the layers, one by one, revealing all the different parts of who we are. And that’s how I came up with my brand name, Nuanced. It reflects the idea that we are not just one thing—we are multiple, ever-evolving things. And while we can’t always express every part of ourselves at once, each layer adds to the complexity and beauty of who we are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Vienna is a city that feels like something out of a storybook—rich with charm, history, and elegance. One of my favorite areas is definitely the First District, with its beautiful old buildings, intricate architecture, and cobblestone streets. The sound of horse-drawn carriages clip-clopping through the city center adds a magical, timeless atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

The Opera House is a true gem, and the view of it from the Albertina Museum is absolutely breathtaking. You can’t miss St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a true symbol of Vienna. And for that royal flair, both Schloss Schönbrunn and Belvedere Palace offer stunning gardens and grand architecture that never gets old.

Vienna also has the cutest cafés—my favorites are Aufzug Café, Crème de la Crème, and Adlerhof. Whether you’re journaling, catching up with a friend, or just soaking in the atmosphere, these spots always hit the mark.

When it comes to museums, I’m drawn to the Museum of Natural History Vienna. I’ve always preferred old-world museums—the ones that feel a bit like time capsules—and this one has that exact charm.

And let’s talk food: Nikkai is a Japanese fusion kitchen with incredibly flavorful dishes, Zizuu has amazing sushi and truffle fries, and for vibes and views, Cayo Coco is an incredible rooftop bar. Their Cuban fries and churros? So worth it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, I would say my mom. She has been such a steadfast and incredible supporter throughout this entire process. She was always checking in on me, asking things like, “How far along is the book? Are you done yet? What does it look like? How many pages?” Her constant encouragement and curiosity kept me motivated, and she always knew exactly when I needed a little push.

Beyond just the book, she’s supported every project I’ve worked on, whether it’s been a new idea or a new goal. She’s the first to buy a copy of anything I publish, and she never hesitates to share it with others. It may sound cliché, but honestly, it’s so true in my case—she’s been my biggest cheerleader, and I’m so, so grateful for her love and support.
