We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Greer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Body by Lee wasn’t something I initially set out to create… it was something I realized I was called to do. It all started while I was working as an insurance adjuster. One of my coworkers, who sat in the cubicle next to mine, shared that his dream was to become a police officer. The only thing holding him back was his weight, and he felt like he was too old to make the change. The moment I heard that, something clicked. I became determined to show him what was possible.

We started working out during our lunch breaks, sometimes before and after work, using the on-site facility. Over time, he lost about 60 pounds. Eventually, the assignment ended…I was a contract worker…so we went our separate ways. Sometime later, he reached out and asked to meet. When he showed up, he was wearing his police uniform. He wanted to thank me for helping him realize his dream. That moment changed everything for me. I realized I had a gift and more importantly, a responsibility…to help others transform their lives. And that’s how Body by Lee was born.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Body by Lee is more than just a fitness brand, it’s a movement rooted in healing, empowerment, and transformation. While we offer results driven wellness programs that include strength training, fat loss, nutrition coaching, and mindset work, what truly sets us apart is the holistic approach. We don’t just help people lose weight; we help them step into the strongest, healthiest, and most aligned version of themselves, inside and out.

I’m most proud of the community we’ve built. People come to Body by Lee for physical results, but they stay because they feel seen, supported, and empowered. We’re not about quick fixes…we’re about sustainable change and creating a life you love living in your body.

The journey to where I am today was anything but easy. I didn’t come from a business background, and I had to learn a lot through trial and error. I’ve faced burnout, doubt, financial risks, and the pressure of leading a brand that carries so much weight for others. But I overcame those challenges by staying anchored to my “why.” Every transformation, every breakthrough with a client, reminded me that this work matters. I learned how to build systems, how to delegate, how to stay consistent, and most importantly, how to trust my voice as a leader.

What I want the world to know about me and Body by Lee is that we exist to disrupt the narrative that wellness is only for a select few. My brand is for the everyday woman who’s ready to choose herself, show up differently, and create a lifestyle that honors her mind, body, and soul. I didn’t start this business because it was trending…I started it because it saved someone’s life, and I believe it has the power to do the same for many more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Dallas for the week, I’d give her the ultimate wellness-meets-vibes experience. First stop: a sweaty but soulful Pilates session at Zehealth and Wellness to kick off the trip right. Then we’re headed to Toya at Nail Art Addict for the most detailed, bougie manicure you’ve ever seen—non-negotiable.

For brunch, Beatrice is a must for that Southern charm, and Sadelle’s is non-negotiable because their French toast is life-changing. We’d wander Bishop Arts District for local gems, then get all glammed up for a bestie lifestyle shoot with Jenn Missouri—because memories need their moment.

One night we’re slowing it down at a Candlelight Concert (the Whitney Houston tribute was unforgettable), and another day we’re going full zen at WorldSprings—wellness plunges, global spa vibes, and cocktails? Yes, please. There are so many wonderful places to go in Dallas but after this itinerary, Im exhausted!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this piece to my brother, who is no longer with us, but whose life continues to fuel my mission every single day. He is the driving force behind Body by Lee and the deeper reason why I’m so passionate about wellness—especially within minority communities.

Losing him made me confront the harsh realities of health disparities that disproportionately affect Black and brown people. It lit a fire in me to not only pursue wellness as a career but as a calling…to help my community reclaim their health, joy, and longevity. His memory reminds me that wellness is more than aesthetics; it’s about preservation, quality of life, and generational change. Every client I support, every transformation I witness, and every program I design carries a piece of him in it. His life and legacy continue to inspire the work I do and the impact I hope to make.
