Meet Morgan Combs | Cosmetologist & Combs tHAIRapy Lounge Owner/Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Morgan Combs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Morgan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
My career has been full of moments where taking risks was the only way to level up, but the biggest one by far was in 2023 when I packed up my life in Southeastern Ohio and moved to Dallas/Fort Worth.
In Ohio, I had everything figured out—my life and career were solid. But sometimes you just know when it’s time for a change, and I had outgrown where I was. Moving meant leaving everything I knew behind. When I got here, I went all in and opened a salon suite right away—a huge gamble in the beauty industry, especially with zero clients or local connections.
Fast forward, that risk paid off and continues to pay off every single day. Through hard work, consistency, and refusing to quit, I’ve built something I’m incredibly proud of and continue to grow beyond anything I thought was possible all because I took a risk.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Honestly, I’m most proud of building my business from the ground up in a completely new area, all on my own. The level of dedication and hard work I’ve poured into it over the past year has been unreal. My 16-18-year-old self in cosmetology school would be absolutely over the moon. She never imagined her life would look like this.
For the first five years of my career—and even during cosmetology school—I worked in busy salons with multiple people. While I sometimes miss certain aspects of that environment, going solo has been the best decision for both my business and mental health. I had promised myself that if I ever left my last salon, I’d work independently, no matter where I ended up. It hasn’t been easy, and there are still tough moments, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Every challenge has brought new solutions, and I’ve learned to embrace growth—not just from mistakes but from every obstacle along the way.
I’ve also realized you can’t please everyone, and that’s okay. I’ve spent so many days dwelling on mistakes or tough situations, but I’ve finally learned to let them go. At the end of the day, I’m human. I make mistakes, and not everyone will be happy—but that doesn’t define me or my work.
My business means everything to me. Despite the challenges, I strive to be the best stylist and professional I can be while creating a safe space for every client who sits in my chair. I deeply value those relationships, and I want every client to know how special they are to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m still fairly new to the area, so my list of “things to do” is a bit limited. However, when a friend from my hometown visited for a few days, I made sure to show her some of my favorite spots! We hit up Eggtastic Cafe & Coffee Roastery for brunch, explored The Stockyards (especially Billy Bob’s Texas), and toured Texas Motor Speedway—they offer super affordable tours. I also took her to Buc-ee’s, since most people from my hometown haven’t experienced it, my favorite sports bar, Tumbleweeds, Denton Square, and Los Molcajetes Mexican Restaurant.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shoutout to my parents. My mom and dad have always supported my dreams, even when they didn’t completely agree with them. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better or more supportive parents.
