We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Floyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Courtney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It has always been my dream to become a professional photographer. When I was about 12 years old my mom had gifted me my very first camera, and from then on I would practice and take pictures of everything. That was when I found my life’s passion and I knew then that was what I wanted to, I wanted to start my own photography business. So I never gave up and I continued to take pictures and continued to grow my outreach.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I got to where I am today by never giving up and more recently doing better at putting out content. I wouldn’t say it was easy, it definitely takes a lot of persistence and dedication. Never give up. I know it may sound cheesy but it’s true. Simply not giving up and continuing to push yourself to do better will always get you a long way.
One thing about my brand is photography is more than just a job, for me, photography has been my life’s passion. It’s about capturing those special moments, getting those creative shots, and ensuring my clients are happy with their photos. It is never just a job.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am from the northshore in Louisiana, just outside New Orleans. On the northshore I would take her to Sirincci Coffee Company. I have been following them since they were just a food truck (well coffee truck haha). I love their drinks and the atmosphere of their locations. And Courtyard Cafe in Hammond. I would also take her to The Escape Game in New Orleans, it’s definitely the best escape room I’ve ever done. And we’d also go to the Lakeside mall in Metairie, Cafe Du Monde in city park, and Dave & Buster’s.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely have to say my parents. Both my mom and dad have always supported me from day 1. They always encouraged me ever since I first told them I wanted to be a photographer as a kid. My mom even bought me my first camera and enrolled me in a photography club and always drove me around to take more pictures and pushed me to do better each competition they had. They both made me a better photographer and I am so beyond thankful for their continued support.
