We had the good fortune of connecting with Kourtney Williams & Kristin Rademacher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kourtney Williams & Kristin Rademacher, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our business not only provides eco-friendly products but also enhances the community well-being through environmental stewardship and social engagement. By Upcycling denim we reduce textile waste that would have otherwise end up in landfills. 1750 wants to promote a culture of sustainability and awareness of recycling and reusing in the creative community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are known for our big a$$ bags and beautiful washes. What sets us apart from others are our skills on the sewing machine. We both grew up sewing, and that absolutely shows in the product we create. Our washes and folding techniques have caught the attention of many people – the consumer notices that everything is truly original.

Kristin: Professionally, I have worked in the apparel industry for many years in various places throughout the country. Along with that came a collection of experiences – both thrilling and challenging – on how to focus my creativity and produce something that people love and truly find joy wearing & owning. There are many road blocks that keep smaller businesses and creatives locked out of the big picture in the apparel industry. I want companies like ours to take up more space and attract many people – to be inclusive.

Kourtney: I’m a Texas girl so fortunately I’ve been able work in the apparel industry and stay in the state I love! I started out designing dance costumes for various dance companies and transitioned into the more technical side of design. I’ve always loved a good pair of jeans so it made sense to start a brand with the focus on denim.

We are most proud of actualizing this dream of living a creative life, plain and simple.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We love Dallas for the vintage clothing shops and Forth Worth for the old classic feel of Texas. Our favorite vintage shops are East Dallas Vintage (of course), Nylo Wool and Lula B’s. If you come in February we are guaranteed to escort you to Erykah Badu’s annual birthday bash – which leaves everyone vibrating on another level. The Modern Art Museum of Forth Worth should not be missed on a trip to Texas either. Don’t forget to check out the Arts Goggle festival in Fort Worth too – put on by Near Southside, a company whose initiatives are to revitalize and advance the community.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to shoutout to everyone who has supported us since February 2, 2021. Our families and friends that have purchased bags, shared our story, come to our outdoor markets (in extreme Texas heat!), drove us to the hospital when we’ve stitched our fingers, modeled our bags in beautiful photography and asked for nothing in return. Shoutout to all those we love that want to see us succeed and can see the true joy we have in our lives by owning 1750 Salvage.
