We had the good fortune of connecting with Seshun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Seshun, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I always push myself to keep going. I think it’s always good to do that because your next idea is waiting for you on the other side of that creative wall you are trying to climb. However, I do have my days where I can throw all the ideas I have at the wall and nothing sticks. I think when I catch myself listening to the same melody or drum pattern over and over again I have to take a step back and take a break from that session. I wouldn’t necessarily say I gave up, but I know when to take a break from whatever I am working on. Giving up isn’t in my DNA, but it is important to know when to take a break from something, and know that IT’S OK to take a break. There is nothing wrong with a quick reset.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think the biggest thing that sets me apart is that I’m a genuine person. I care about the people I work with and I really value the relationships I create with every artist I work with. My journey started from the bottom. I had no musical knowledge. I didn’t know what programs to use, any music theory, or how to play an instrument. All I knew was that I loved music and I wanted to create. There was a huge amount of challenges, but my determination to get where I want to be is what helped me overcome those challenges. Along the way I learned that not everyone will take things as serious as you. So it is really important to find people that are on the same page so y’all can both grow and elevate. Also, it just helps with not wasting your time. I would like everyone to know that my brand is for the dreamers. Your dreams are not as crazy as people may make it sound. Anyone that tells you you’re crazy for going after your dreams hasn’t done so themselves, so go for it!!!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would for sure try to take them to a sporting event. There is so many professional teams in the DFW, we would definitely have to catch a game for whatever sport is in season. Food wise I would have to take them to Ashim’s Hibachi, Hoya, El Mil Tacos, or Juanitos. If they wanted to experience a little bit of the night life I would show them 7th street in Fort Worth or Deep Ellum in Dallas. Klyde Warren park is a pretty cool spot to hang out and the Perot Museum is a must to check out. Honestly, there is so much to do in this area its tough to narrow it down on what are the “must do’s”. Oh, and I cant forget a trip to Buc-ee’s!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is a long list of people I would like to shout out but I’ll keep it short. First, I want to shout out my girl, Trinity. She is a huge piece to my journey. The support she has given is amazing and I appreciate her for that. Secondly, my homie Ladi. He has shown me the importance of hard work and really marketing myself and the music I create. I also want to shout out Aric Evans, Dank817, and J/O/E for trusting in me and producing records for them. Lastly, I want to shout out my support system Terrel, Phil, Preach, and KJ. These individuals have been there for me in my journey as I take on the music industry. I confide in them for advice and critiques with my music. These people are important because they have expressed their belief in me and it drives me to keep pursuing this crazy dream of mine. So, shout out to y’all and I appreciate everyone.
