We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernanda Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fernanda, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I view risk as an inherent part of growth and progress. It’s not something to be feared but rather understood and managed effectively. Recently I took one of the biggest risks in my professional and personal life as well. I moved to the other side of the world to pursue my master formation in Barcelona. Decided to change my current job in the process. It Has been a roller coaster of emotions and It took me to another level of development in my professional and personal life. Every decision involves some level of risk, and it’s essential to assess the potential outcomes and weigh them against the potential benefits.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced opportunities that presented some level of risk. In this new chapter I had the opportunity of my first challenging project as an Illustrator in Barcelona, at the same time I was pursuing a new role in a different company. Everything is about time management and putting the 150% effort in everything that you do. By being open to taking risks, I’ve been able to foster creativity and drive innovation in both my personal projects and collaborative efforts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My Personal Brand and Illustration Project: “EL BOSQUE DE LA CHINITA” is not just a project; it’s a significant part of my life and career journey. What began as a simple expression of my love for drawing has evolved into something far greater than I ever imagined. From humble beginnings as a mere hobby, it has blossomed into a thriving illustration project that has taken me on an incredible journey of growth and discovery.

The impact of “EL BOSQUE DE LA CHINITA” has been far-reaching, extending from local exhibitions in Nicaragua to international showcases in Madrid. Being part of prestigious events like the Biennial Ibero-American Design Exhibition has been a testament to the project’s evolution and significance.

The journey hasn’t been without its challenges. An essential aspect of the project’s success has been the power of networking and establishing a presence within the creative community. By actively engaging with fellow artists, attending events, and leveraging social media platforms, I’ve been able to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations, expanding the reach of my project and opening doors to exciting opportunities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I’ve recently moved to Barcelona, this city has shown me how everything can be new and exciting every day .

The morning has to start with the best breakfast place in the Billy brunch cafe, they have different locations around the city and everything there is sooo good.

After having enough fuel for the day we can Take a stroll down La Rambla, Barcelona’s most famous street, and explore the bustling market of La Boqueria.

We can’t miss visiting the iconic Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece, and marvel at its stunning architecture.
And take a walk to see the sunset at Barceloneta. After that let’s go for drinks at Born that has a lot of fun and thematics bars that you won’t ever imagine. That is just a little bit of what you can do in the city

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my life, I’ve been fortunate to have the unwavering support of my family, especially my mom and dad. Their dedication to hard work and their relentless pursuit of personal and professional growth have been foundational pillars in my development. Witnessing their commitment to excellence, their resilience in the face of challenges, and their unwavering belief in the power of perseverance has instilled in me a profound sense of determination and drive. Their example has taught me the value of giving my full potential in every task, no matter how small, and has shaped my approach to both personal and professional endeavors.

In addition to my family, my friends and colleagues have also played a crucial role in shaping my perspective on risk-taking and creativity. I’m continually inspired by those whom I consider to be the most talented individuals in my circle. Whether through collaborative projects, brainstorming sessions, or simply engaging in insightful conversations, their influence has fueled my own creative pursuits and encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone.
