We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what’s your definition for success?
For me, success is about finding fulfillment and contentment in both professional endeavors and personal growth, while leaving a positive impact on the world around you.

Professionally, it is about leaving a meaningful impact in your field while striving for excellence in everything you do. All things you do in your professional career should have your “stamp” on it, which shows the standard that you hold yourself to. For me personally, my faith in Christ is the foundation of my life. Because of this, I do all things to please The Lord and strive for excellence in everything I do, no matter how little or small the task may be. I define success by the satisfaction of knowing I’ve lived up to my fullest potential each day. This looks like seeking to listen, understand, and impact others, while having integrity and showing true authenticity.

Personally, it is about living authentically and in alignment with my values in every day life. It’s about nurturing meaningful relationships, cultivating a sense of purpose, and prioritizing my mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Success means finding joy in the simple, seemingly mundane moments, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth, and continuously evolving into the best version of myself.

Overall, success is not a destination, but a journey. It’s about striving to live a life that is meaningful, purposeful, and true to my core values and purpose.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My Story: I always had a passion for entrepreneurship. When I was 10 years old living in the Chicago area, I had turned our family garage into a store, called “Sporty’s,” where I priced and organized everything in the garage as products to sell, hired my siblings and a friend as employees, and opened up shop… with of course only my parents as the customers. I made team branded “Sporty’s” shirts and everything… we were clearly the real deal. Fast forward to 2019, I was in the Masters of Science in Business program at Mays Business school (GIG ‘EM), where we actually started, funded, ran, and exited companies through the program. It was there that I started to learn more about the business skills required to run a business. During that program, I was also busy at work building my personal brand. I was sharing on social media and LinkedIn my experience throughout the jobs I was working, the marketing projects I was working on, and my personal hobbies and passions that made me, me. One day, I received an email from the VP of Brand Experience for Texas A&M University. He had seen me building my brand, and wanted me to come in and meet with the Brand Experience team. Long story short, they ended up working with me, and I was contracted out and consulted with them on strategies for their brand partners like HEB, Champion, NASA, and more. I helped provide strategy into 2020 as well, when COVID hit, and we strategically adapted how we went about the partnership experiences, to bring great success. After that, I was graduating the program and ready to begin a full time career. I had the choice of working a corporate job or starting a company. With the advice of my mentors, I made the decision I truly wanted to make, which was to start a company. I called up my best friend since 10 years old and asked her to Co-Found the company with me. She and I had been friends since we were kids in the Chicago area. We both love marketing and (importantly) have complementary strengths. We had joked in college about starting a company together… but did not know it would start so soon. To my great excitement, she said yes, and now here we are… 3 and half years later, with a 7 person team, consistently growing over 200% year after year, working with incredible national and international brands, and a whole lot of learned experience.

Navigating life as a business owner, as many understand, is not for the faint of heart. Some challenges I have gone through personally have been changing my mindset from a free lancer to business builder, putting my pride and ego aside to be vulnerable enough to admit that I cannot and should not be doing everything,, and saying, “No- I am not good at this specific task, and someone better at it should do this instead,” continuing to actively listen, understand, and take action within our team to help grow our team members in their professional passions and as people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My ideal day in the city (let’s say it’s a Saturday and I had a friend visiting):

I would start with a morning walk on the Katy Trail that ends with coffee at Foxtrot off Knox Henderson. For lunch, we would grab sandwiches from Jimmy’s Food store (they have an incredible deli), and then head to Klyde Warren Park and grab dessert or a snack from a food truck and head to the Dallas Art Museum to check out the exhibits. After that, we would head to Grandscape in the Colony and check out their events on the lawn (they always have something fun happening), and grab a glass of wine from their outdoor wine bar and chat on the patio. For dinner, we would drive to our reservation at Las Palmas, and end the night with a drink at The Library piano bar at and late night pizza from Serious Pizza before heading back home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been truly blessed by the impact of so many people in my life. My husband, family, business partner, team members, and many mentors and coaches throughout my life have all played pivotal roles in any and all successes that I have had the opportunity to be a part of. I recently joined the Dallas branch of the Worldwide Entrepreneur Organization as an accelerator. That EOA organization has given me a truly incredible network of like-minded business owners, coaches, and resources that have continued to impact my journey- while being able to learn from all of their incredible journeys and experiences as well.
