We had the good fortune of connecting with Zachary Adkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zachary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a very conservative individual. I was with the same company for 17 years. It was just not too long ago where I realized that My success at this job was limited. When you’re a business owner, you are the reason for the success of your business. If you are determined enough, there really is no limit to your success. You can never fail if you never give up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I operate a party entertainment and rental business. My focus is trying to bring fun and unique party ideas to children for birthday parties. From a game trailer, Nerf war party, or even a foam party. My goal is for the kids to have a fun memory of They’ll never forget.
It hasn’t been super easy. Starting a business takes a lot of time, energy, and effort. Marketing has also been very important. I’ve been an employee for most of my life. So, switching to a business owner and operating that business and getting your name out. There has been quite a learning experience.
I’m trying my best to bring as much fun into the world as possible. Having fun and smiling is good for the body, mind, and soul.
For anyone that’s reading this that has been thinking about starting their own business. You will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. So go for it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live very close to DFW. So, the first one that comes to mind are the stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas. Next to Fort Worth is Arlington which I would recommend checking out six flags over Texas and the water park hurricane harbor. Also, if it’s that time of the year, checking out a ranger game or a Dallas cowboy game is a lot of fun. Dallas has so many things to do. I don’t think I could list them all. They have a ton of museums to check out an aquarium, The Dallas Zoo, The galleria of Dallas. And they also had the American airlines center that the Dallas Mavericks play at.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God first. My life has been ever changing in such a great way once I found a relationship with Him. He gets all the glory.
I also couldn’t have done this without the love and support of my wife and my parents. The constant encouragement has been awesome through this new journey I’m taking.
If I had to give credit to one book. It would be the book “becoming your own banker” by Nelson Nash. The book helped me change my financial education and was a big reason how I was even able to start my business.
