We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosy L and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe that my persistence, adventurous nature, and ability to adapt to different environments are the factors that help me succeed as a singer-songwriter. With these qualities, I am always wanting to learn new things, and meet new people. I am always willing to search for new opportunities with the mind set that it is okay to get rejected. I try my best to go with the flow and know that everything happens for a reason. I believe this way of thinking prevents me from burnout and allows me to effectively reach my goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer-songwriter from Vientiane, Laos. What is most exciting about my music is that I get to write songs to help my listeners heal from their distress, and I too get to experience my healing journey alongside my listeners, I am proud that I am able to be honest and vulnerable with my songwriting so I can remind my listeners that they are not alone. I also incorporate my native language, Lao, into my songs so I can resonate with people from my country who do not speak English. My poor mental health and low self-esteem were the factors that made it less easy to get to where I am today professionally. For the longest time, I surrounded myself with people who did not believe in my passion for music. I have always felt like I have no voice and the people around me are constantly telling me to pursue dreams that aren’t mine. My voice and my vision for my future became their voice and their vision. I overcame that challenge by surrounding myself with people who truly loves me and supports my love for music. I am now finally learning how to heal and how to find my voice again through song-writing and performing. The biggest lesson I have learned is that it is so important to surround yourself with positive people, and feed yourself with positivity. Your mind is so powerful, so it is very important that you believe in yourself and your ability to heal.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a huge foodie and I love sharing my Lao culture and experiencing new cultures with my friends through food! I would take them to Sabaidee Lao and Thai Street Food in Dallas for some great Lao food. I would take them to Too Thai Street, or Blue Mint for great Thai food. I would also take them to Jin Korean BBQ off of Cooper Street for all you can eat Korean BBQ. For drinks, I will always choose boba milk tea at Share Tea or Gong Cha for drinks. Another great place to go is Wabi House, an amazing Ramen restaurant in Fort Worth. Our Place is one of my favorite Indian restaurant in Irving and I believe everyone should try it, and then right next to it is Fortune House. Fortune House has amazing soup dumplings. The list goes on and on for all the restaurants I would take my best friend. I can talk about food all day! One of my favorite dessert spot is Parlor Doughnuts and Val’s Cheesecake. Anyone who visits me, they will be stuffed with food every day! Other than food places, I would take my friends to the Fort Worth Botanical Garden, and White Rock Lake for a relaxing day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I would love to thank you for their support, love, and encouragement. First, I would love to thank my best friend and partner Aurel Baker, his audio engineer and producer name is Subtonic. Without his support, love, and encouragement, I would not have the courage to share my music with the world. I would also love to thank Mrs. Baker and Mr. Baker because they are always there to support, love, and encourage me to live my dreams and to be my true self. I would also love to thank my sister, Emily. She has always been there since the beginning. She saw my love for music since I was a baby and was always supportive of it. I remember when she and I would make music videos in our back yard with the our dad’s old Panasonic video camera. Next, I want to thank my best friend, Lauren, who has always shared her love for music with me! If it was not for her, I would not know how to harmonize! I want to thank 1LaoEntertainment, also known as Kevin, for being part of the dream team! I would love to thank him for trusting me with his beats and allowing me to write to it. Also without his efforts to connect us to the amazing videographer Tommy, the music video for “Paradise” would not have happened. Lastly, I want to give a huge shout out to the music community who has supported my journey and have seen my growth in live performing. Everyone is amazing!
