We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommy Adetunji and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tommy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I recognized the power of clothing as a universal language. I established One Impulse & Co as a global fusion brand with a vision for unity celebrating cultural diversity through fashion and design. The goal is to foster a sense of connection and understanding among people transcending borders and promoting a world where diversity is embraced.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Sr. Cloud Engineer and Brand Owner, my journey has been a dynamic blend of challenges and excitement. Balancing the technical intricacies of I.T with the creative demands of a clothing brand presented its own set of hurdles. Navigating through technological advancements while staying true to the essence of cultural diversity in fashion was both challenging and rewarding.

The cloud landscape is a continuous learning cycle and demand constant adaptation. On the entrepreneurial front, establishing and growing a clothing brand brings challenges in production, marketing and fostering a brand identity. The most exciting aspect is witnessing the intersection of technology and fashion finding innovative ways to merge these worlds.

Being a cloud engineer fuels my passion for innovation while the brand allows me to express and celebrate cultural diversity to foster change through design. It’s the synergy between these two worlds that keeps me motivated and excited to overcome challenges and carve a unique narrative.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week-long adventure with a friend, I’d start by immersing ourselves in the cultural richness of Dallas. We’d start the day with a visit to the Dallas Museum of Art exploring its diverse exhibits and gaining insights into the city’s artistic heritage. Evenings would unfold at vibrant Hookah Bars like Baboush offering a unique blend of flavors and atmosphere for a relaxed yet lively time. To tap into the local pulse, we’d attend open events at places like Klyde Warren Park, where food trucks and live performances create a dynamic social hub. The week would be a mix of artistic appreciation, flavorful experiences and and deep immersion into Dallas culture.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported us in various ways. Their support has played a crucial role in shaping our journey. Being an entrepreneur comes with challenges but having self-belief and a great support system also contributes immensely to our success.
