We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Bledsoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my work ethic. I am committed to doing my best in all areas of my life. In sports, I believe that I must work hard to show my teammates that I am willing to do the work that is needed for us to be a successful group. I apply that same work ethic to my education which is reflected in my grades in school. Not only am I leader on the court, but I am also a leader in the classroom. Ultimately, my work ethic shows up strongly with my business. Along with my creativity, as a designer I create custom jewelry and clothing apparel to enhance people’s self-confidence. Everyone deserves to feel good about who they are and what they wear.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Many years ago, I created The Jasmine Bledsoe Collection. My business includes clothing apparel and jewelry. I designed my first set of bracelets for a Marketplace Day in elementary school. Everyone had to select an item to create and sell. I like to make things for people to wear so that they can feel good. Sometimes, that special bracelet or pair of shoes can give you a spark. Everyone deserves to have a glow up. Another element that makes my business unique is when someone purchases one of my products, a percentage of the money goes to a special home for children or senior living center. It is so important to remember others as we climb. We have to remember those who are less fortunate than us, and be willing to help support them, too.

After participating in Marketplace Day at school, I watched videos on youtube to learn different ways to create cruelty free jewelry. It was pretty easy. Having quality materials is important. Recently, I have expanded to clothing and shoes. I think anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

That’s a great question! When I am not playing sports and developing items for my business, I really like to relax and have a good time. One of my favorite spots is the Ding Boba Tea House in North Fort Worth. The drinks there are amazing and you can never go wrong with boba tea. If you are in Dallas, shopping at the Galleria Mall and North Park in Dallas, Texas, is a must. Next, we would go to the Movie Tavern to watch a movie and eat, too. During the holidays, we always visit the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Grapevine Polar Express Train and Christmas at the Gaylord. I think all my friends should go there at least once in their lifetime. Finally, I would take my friends to a few museums like the Black Girl Magic Museum, the Juneteenth Museum, and the Crow Museum and the Modern Museum. The Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex has a great deal to offer and there are many fun places here for teenagers.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my family, faith, and friends. Initially, my family has been there for me since the very beginning. They provide support and guidance for me that promotes resilience and empowerment. The elders in my family, like my grandparents, share special moments with me that help build my self confidence and self esteem. Also, my faith is important. Through prayer and hard work, I am inspired by endless possibilities. In fact, I would like to give a shoutout for prayer because I believe with a strong faith in God all things are possible. Finally, I like to thank my friends and community. My community is really amazing. So many people have taken the time to teach me new things and help develop me into the young person that I am today. I would like to recommend a book entitled, Bee Fearless by Mikaila Ulmer. She is the founder of The Bees Lemonade. Ultimately, it is an inspirational read for teenagers that encourages young people to become their best selves.

Young people have the ability to impact the world and help solve problems in their communities. Through entrepreneurship and innovation, students can create businesses and initiatives to make our world a better place. We are change agents and we can use the tools of youth entrepreneurship and innovation to help make that change.
