We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Uwagboe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting Boe TV Productions is as follows; inspiration and motivation. I say that to say, I watch a lot of reality television, and one day I was watching Zeus Network, and immediately a light bulb went off in my head like “I can do this myself”. If you notice, there aren’t really a lot of shows or networks that showcase Texas as a state and more specifically Dallas. Being raised in Dallas, I kind of wanted to pioneer the way for Dallas Texas to be spotlighted on a reality television series, while chronicling the journey of entrepreneurs in the city. More importantly, I want to make my mark as the first Black Woman in Dallas Texas, with a film production company.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Boe TV Productions is a film production company. We have had the honor of shooting music videos, commercials, short films, currently working on a reality television series, we are also hosting events in our local community. We are the company that brings visions to reality, literally. If you can see it, imagine it, we’ve got it covered. We started off shooting a pilot for Zeus Network, being that they wanted to host my idea on their platform. Through that opportunity, we have expanded, grown, and re-strategized to fit the needs of the community.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot to frequent in the DFW area would be Frankie’s in downtown Dallas, I also loved Zenna (not sure if they are still in business). Another great spot would be PH.D in West Dallas. Mi Cocina is pretty good too if you like Mexican cuisine. Kemi’s Kitchen for African food! MOD pizza for New York styled pizza in the Mansfield area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout my best friend and my brother for being amazing business partners. I’d like to give a HUGE shoutout to my Boe TV Production Crew. Without them, Boe TV would not be where we are today. I couldn’t do it all by myself, which is why I hired a team. & appreciate every single member of my team, even the ones no longer with us. Because everyone has contributed in some way, shape, or form to the success of Boe TV today, and what’s to come in the future.
