We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Laird and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think of risk as a double edged sword. I would be lying if I said I didn’t love adrenaline rushes but the anxiety that comes with it…debatable. Risk has changed a lot for me as I have grown up. Risk now for me has only set me up for growth. Sometimes my business partner, Tess, has to even push me a little. If I would have played it safe my whole life, I wouldn’t have the knowledge and mistakes to learn from that made me who I am today.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
2Girls1Brush Beauty is not only hair and makeup services. We really pride ourselves in building relationships with our clients. Most of our clientele are brides and that’s a huge deal in someone’s life. We strive to make it special and sincere. Our clients are not just transactions. We also leave room for fun. We kind of “entertain” and ease the stressful wedding morning.
When you ask if this was easy – it kind of was. We are just being ourselves! Now learning how to keep up with demand was a challenge, but we hired a team of girls.
A hard lesson I learned along the way is that no one is going to care about your business like you do. This is my baby pretty much!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to take her to a lake to go boating. Some of my favorite restaurants. Visit a spa or two. She would enjoy the stockyards!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! Her name is Tess Hevener! She built this right beside me. Could never do this without her.

Amber,
PaPa and I are so very proud of you. You have more imagination as you always had as a little girl. I had more fun watching you grow up. You have experienced so much in your young life, and have so much talent. I am so proud to be your grandmother. Keep up the good work, you are just now being discovered by the world.
