We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alyssa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factors behind my brand is inclusiveness and integrity. I never want to be the injector that performs treatments just for the sake of doing them. I want to provide honest and lasting treatments for my patients, and always have options for every type of patient that walks in my door, whether that be invasive vs. noninvasive treatments, and regardless of skin type/color or age.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Like many ER nurses, the beginning of my business journey has been “winging it.” Initially I found some local aesthetic training courses that I would work overtime to attend, until ultimately (and thankfully) finding Neowell, who has provided the bulk of my training. Building a business from scratch does not come with a standardized roadmap, and realizing that has helping me narrow my focus instead of being forever overwhelmed. I believe surrounding yourself with encouraging friends and family has helped me stay excited about evolving my practice instead of giving up when business is stressful or slow. Growing pains are normal, and comfort zones have never brought new beginnings. During this time of building my brand, I found it’s important to not sacrifice yourself just to bring patients in your clinic. This is your brand, expertise, and your professionalism that you are trying to grow so be selective with who you treat because those patients are your walking billboard. With this in mind, I am most proud of being able to offer a wide range of treatments for all skin types and age groups, not limiting myself to strict injections only. I strive to treat the source of the problem, not just the symptoms; and collaborate on a treatment plan with my patients to make sure they get the results they want and need.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I may be lame in this area because I’m a bit of a hermit crab, but my all-time favorite spot is Uchiba in Dallas! They have the best dishes, drinks, and atmosphere to just relax. Their staff (Hunter and Francis) are experts in their field and probably know your taste better than you do! My partner and I also like to visit the special exhibits at the Perot for their Thursdays on Tap. Who doesn’t love a Pixar exhibit with wine?! Taking a trip to Central Market and whipping up some nice home-cooking is always a staple in the house, as well. We love looking up recipes and figuring out how to make them better (and spicier!). Having everyone around talking and cooking is always a guaranteed great time!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother is the number one reason why I have pursued everything in my life. Through her, I learned sacrifice, independence, and the importance of a support system. She is my greatest inspiration to be my own everything, including boss! Second credit would be to Neowell for giving me the space to ask questions, learn hands-on situations, and perfect my skills with their aesthetic training program and for the family we have formed between all of my colleagues within the program. We have all come together for this new career path, and there have been life-long friends made. Last, but certainly not least, is my partner, David. The love, support, and patience that he has shown me throughout the rollercoaster of starting a new business and skillset is invaluable to me and I will be forever grateful.
