We had the good fortune of connecting with Alycia Marks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alycia, how does your business help the community?
The focus of my business is helping women heal so that they can show up the way they’re meant to in this world. The more women we have who know their worth and know themselves , the more our community will thrive. If someone changes the way they see themselves, they change the lense in which they see their world and that is a powerful shift for them and their impact on the world

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
If I was to give you a list of what I do I’d say I’m a Self Love Coach, Motivational Speaker, Energy Healer, Sound Healer, Story Work Expert and Content Creator, but I feel like the title “Potential Seer” tells you more.

My purpose in this world is to help individuals truly see themselves, see what they are capable of, see what they are afraid of, see what brings them joy and peace and to help clear up the junk in their way of getting to it. As a potential seer, I help guide people through self exploration. In that process we often have to work through forgiveness and acceptance of self.

If I was to describe myself as a coach id say I’m someone who helps my clients feel safe to explore themselves and open up deeply. I offer lots of love and acceptance, but am also very straight forward and blunt. I’m going to challenge you to explore yourself in hard ways and ask you hard questions, but the purpose of that is to help you get honest with yourself about the pretty and the ugly parts of yourself. You cannot do this work without being willing to take accountability in your life.

In 2019, I graduated from BYU-I with my Bachelors in Organizational Communications & Advocacy with an Emphasis in Video Productions. The following year I went through a 6 month course with the Self Love Lifestyle to get my certification as a Self Love Life Coach. Following that training I received my level 1 & 2 Reiki Placements as an Energy Healer. The following year I joined Enlifted to get certified as a Story Work Coach and recently finished my certification as a sound healer through Life Changing Energy. I plan on start my Master’s Program in 2024.

When I first started my business in 2020, I had a very successful launch. I sold out my 1 on 1 program and put it my resignation at my full time job. It was so exciting! However, because of my role at my current job at the time I didn’t think it would be fair to just quit until I had someone trained to take my role. So for the next 3 months, I transitioned out of my full-time job and juggled having 10, 1 on 1 clients. It was beautiful to be working towards my dream but exhausting to manage the work load.

Once I was able to work fully in my business I began traveling, creating content and launching different programs all while working through my own mental health and self discoveries. I had to learn how to find the balance as a coach and a person. I struggled to cut off my self analyzing tendencies and just be present. So while my business was just starting I was transforming so much internally. I couldn’t fight off this urge to get out of my head and to get into my body. We live in a world full of so much information it’s easy to get caught in a self development loop, but part of healing is also getting out of your head and getting out of judgment and just being present.

It can be scary as an entrepreneur in the self development space to be helping others work through their own struggles, while also managing the transformations taking place within yourself at all times. I’ve had moments of self doubt and imposter syndrome throughout the journey, but what I’ve learned is that you don’t need to have it all figured out to get started. You don’t have to be “okay” all of the time, you are human just like the people you help. Prioritize yourself and be honest with yourself about what you need throughout your journey. Sometimes that means taking a break from social media, spending more time in nature, stopping the self development practices and just practicing gratitude. Healing is always evolving and no one can better tell you what you need than yourself. Trust yourself and trust the process. If you can see it and envision it, it can be yours you just have to believe you’re worth it.

Currently in my business, I mentor new life coaches from all over the world trying to find their voices and build their businesses. Locally in the DFW area I am doing an event series working through the self love road map which is Self Forgiveness, Self Acceptance, Self Gratitude, Self Care and Self Trust. When I’m not hosting my own events, I am coaching and speaking as a guest at other events. Outside of events I offer 1 on 1 coaching, group coaching, sound healing and energy healing sessions.

My goals in the next few years is to continue to strengthen my voice, fine tune my gifts, get involved in my community, learn a lot more and to serve as many individuals as I can.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came into town to visit I’d want to take her to turtle creek park so that we could paint and discuss our latest lessons about self and life. Then we’d probably stop by Snooze AM in Ft. Worth to eat a bomb breakfast followed by a walk through downtown. After that we’d want to go home and rest for a while, probably watch a few episodes of “The ultimatum” queer edition and then get dressed up to go to dinner at Nick and Sam’s.

The next morning we’d wake up and go for a walk through Trinity Groves or the Katy trail. Come home, shower, get ready, eat breakfast at home and then head to deep elm to show her my favorite plant shop Crecer and Crystal Shop Luna Metaphysical. Then we’d walk around the neighborhood shopping at some of the other local small businesses and popups before grabbing lunch nearby. Later that night we’d go to a show at Arlington Improv or find a local poetry night.

On day three we’re going to take a meditation class at breathe meditation then grab some avocado toast and a smoothie at La La Land Kind Cafe. Then head home to change into our bathing suit so we can chill at the pool for a few hours taking, swimming and making TikToks. That night we’d probable go take a scooter ride through Dallas ,making sure to take lots of cute pictures and videos. To end the night we’d grab some ice cream from Creamistry.

During the rest of the week I’d probably bring her to the local museums and art galleries, making sure to bring her to Mi Cocina for some good Mexican food and Magliano’s for some bomb pasta!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am without my mom, she played a huge part in the person I am today. I’ve grown to appreciate her more and more as I’ve experienced life. My mom was the root for my confidence before I could be rooted in myself. She was the person who told me I could do and be anything my heart desired. She is the person who helped me see the world through a brighter sense. She is still the person I call today when I need to dissect my thoughts, feelings or decisions. She’s always there to give unbiased and honest advice. She continues to challenge me to see the world from other peoples perspectives and to have empathy while staying true to myself. She deserves all the credit I can give!
