We had the good fortune of connecting with Janel Strong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janel, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by good vibes, good music, and great people. I find a lot of my inspirations by trying to find my inner peace. Other than my Lord and Savior, Erykah Badu is one of my biggest inspirations. I look up to her musically, and creatively. I don’t know if it’s because we’re both pisces, but I really connect with her on a whole other level lol. She calms my spirit and inspires me to be the. most authentic and unapologetic version of myself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from others is I a lot of people my age is not doing what I’m doing in my hometown, Fort Worth, Texas. I’m in a different lane of entrepreneurship compared to everyone else. I don’t have an item for sale, I am my brand. Strong & Company comes from my last name “Strong” & the company is you the audience. I got to where I am today through hard work, faith, and perseverance with the help of God, family, & my peers. This road was definitely not easy at all. I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights, worrying about the future of my brand, and a lot of crying. LOLLLLLLLLLL but overall I wouldn’t change it for anything. I try my best to keep pressing forward even when I feel like giving up. God has always shown me with his will there’s always a way. When I let go and let God have his way I end up seeing why I should never stress! I want the world to know that you will be seeing my face more and more. You will become familiar with Miss Nella E and the Strong & Company brand. Strong & Company will be coming to a city near you! Raw talk, dope interviews, JOIN THE PARTY. As always sending out love, peace, & hair grease 🙂
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to West 7th Street in FWTX or Deep Ellum to bar hop or just to eat some great food! If we’re on W 7th we’ll be at Varsity, Kung Fu Saloon, or Landmark Bar. Deep Ellum we’re at the Nines & Cafe Brazil for sure! I love Deep Ellum because of the artistic vibe out there. I just feel free to be myself and explore the scenery. 7th street is a guarantee turn up whenever I don’t feel like driving to Dallas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my University of Houston family. Thank you so much for supporting me in the startup of Strong & Company. I’ll never forget how y’all used to come sit and interact with me or just watch different artists freestyle on whatever instrumental I felt like jamming out that day. Thank y’all for staying down until the come up. Thank you for my family and real friends that are more so like family. Thank you for believing in me in the times that I really wanted to give up. Thank Lil D’ from 97.9 The Beat for helping me create my first air check to send out to radio stations across the world. I appreciate you for giving constructive criticism, but also showing me that you care and is passionate about helping others succeed.
