We had the good fortune of connecting with Eibeth Aguayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eibeth, how do you think about risk?
I think life is all about taking risks (the good kind, of course). However, if I’m being completely honest taking risks is not something that came to me easily at ALL. I can be an extremely anxious person, so it definitely took a lot of courage to step out of my comfort zone in many areas of my life. However, taking risks has been the best thing I could’ve done for my life & my business. I find that once you do something that scares you, you realize that it actually wasn’t so scary after all. Which only motivates you to continue taking one risk after another, & before you know it you’re achieving things you never thought possible. Taking risks has made me much more confident & more willing to continue to chase my dreams.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a professional hair stylist & makeup artist. I specialize in doing special events (mainly weddings & quinceañera’s). Getting to where I am now was definitely not easy, not to mention I actually went a few years feeling lost about which career path to choose. I’ve been passionate about makeup since middle school. However once I graduated cosmetology school I wasn’t sure of all my career options. I felt pressure to go into a full service hair salon. Yet, I knew deep down I didn’t want to work in any salon setting but wasn’t sure of what else I could do. After sometime of working at Drybar, I started to realize that my true passion with hair, was creating hairstyles. I started to reach out to bridal companies who were looking for hairstylists & makeup artists. That is how, I found my way into the bridal beauty industry & I have absolutely fallen in love with it. I have learned a lot, but the main lesson for me has been: Patience is key. Do not try to rush into anything, & don’t stress over things you have no control over. Everyday put in work, & little by little it will add up to something great. There is a time for everything. Never give up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love Fort Worth. Coming from a small town in N.C, I am always mesmerized by this beautiful city. I would definitely say downtown is a must. Sundance square is such a peaceful & beautiful place to be, especially when they have live music in the evening. Trinity park has got to be my favorite park ever, the trails are perfect for going on long bike rides & the scenery is gorgeous. There are so many delicious restaurants to try, Snooze (breakfast), Riskey’s, La Hacienda (Mexican Buffet). Traders Village is such a fun place to look around on an early weekend. Alley Cats & Main Event are always a lot of fun. Oh, & you definitely can’t come to Texas & forget about visiting the Stock Yards. Gosh, the list could go on. There’s so much to do & see in this beautiful city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First & foremost I would like to give a huge shoutout & big thank you to my wonderful husband, Octavio Aguayo. He’s always rooting for me & encouraging me to chase my dreams. I wouldn’t be doing any of this if it wasn’t for the constant support of my other half. I would also like to thank my sister, Janet. For always letting me practice hair & makeup on her. She’s been there since day one & has been extremely patient with my growth. Thanks for being my guinea pig, sister. I will forever be grateful to every single one of my friends who have also been open to being my hair & makeup models. Lastly I would like to thank Leslie Barajas for being a very important mentor to me in the bridal hair industry & for giving me the incredible opportunity to be a part of her bridal styling team, the Studio 201. I have learned so much from her & am extremely grateful to be a part of such a talented team of artists.
