We had the good fortune of connecting with Celissa Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Celissa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had an entreprenuer spirit and have tried many different things but when I came across permanent jewelry, I knew this was “IT”. There were tons of training programs out there with a high price tag but with time and research, I learned that I could teach myself with all the free tools that were already out there. I wanted this to be MINE and not under someone elses umbrella.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am still working full time for a Commercial Construction company in DFW while also running my permanent jewelry business. On top of that I am a mother of four ranging from 18 to 6 years old. I guess you can say, I welcome a challenge! There are definitely evenings/weekends where I would love to stay home instead of working events but I know that it will be all be worth it. I love that I am able to show my children that we can do anything we set our minds to and that it’s not always easy.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am such a homebody so this one is tough! The first place that pops into my head is the Fort Worth Stockyards. That is SO Texas so it just feels like something you have to introduce to someone who is here for a visit. We would likely find a BBQ joint, have some drinks and then head off to one of the country bars. There isn’t anything quite like a country bar – the best dancing and the best people.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing friend Ashley Saylor! She is the owner of another Permanent Jewelry business and we kind of just jumped in this together. She led the way and kept telling me how I need to do this too. I am SO grateful that I listened to her and for her friendship. We work all of the larger events together and always bounce ideas off eachother. I love how we can be in the same industry but it’s nothing but love.
