We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Love Within Us is an affirmation based small business. I design and sell affirmation decks, guided journals, and accessories that all support mental health and self-empowerment. My mission has always been to spread love and light and when we can fully, deeply, and authentically love ourselves, then we can fully, deeply, and authentically love others. It all starts with your love within.
The affirmation decks I offer are unique and set me a part from the rest because they are simple. Yes, simple! Simple “I am” affirmation statements like “I am limitless”, “I am worthy”, “I am creative”, or “I am learning”. You see, this was intentional because I want the drawer of the affirmation to ask themselves what their affirmation means to them, and how does it make you feel. The system I have designed with my guided affirmation journal allows the drawer to then journal using their card. How can you expand on what “I am learning” means to you right now and how can you write 3 sentences using that affirmation. What challenges or successes are you facing and how does “I am learning” relate?
Currently, I am most proud of the slow and steady success of my small business. Success as in the lives I have been able to touch and change and the success as in the growth and expansion of my product line and business. Small business is challenging because you wear all the hats which means a lot of moving parts that require systems and procedures to keep you accountable and on track. I have also worked hard at my work-life balance as my family comes first. I am proud of being able to create schedules that help me stay intentional with my time.
One of the lessons I learned along the way is to keep going. Keep striving to be better, to learn more, to grow more, just don’t give up. Small business can be hard business and it does take a village at times. I am constantly trying to educate myself and learn more on ways to grow my business by marketing, selling, social media, wholesale, and so much more. I have learned that as the markets will shift, so will I, and with each new stage and growth, I will have to get uncomfortable, put myself out there, and grow with it.
I want the world to know that you are worthy. You. Just as you are, are worthy. Right now, in this moment. Not when. Not if. Worthy right now. You are important and beautiful and are worthy of taking up space on this earth. You are needed. Your talents, knowledge, and love is needed.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a stay-at-home mom who runs a small business, I have not been the best at exploring or getting out over the past few years, however, I am a sucker for local coffee shops and brunch places. I enjoy Redefined in Grapevine. They tend to have seasonal coffee drinks as well as a beautiful interior to sit and enjoy chats with a friend. I would also visit Bishop Arts in Dallas. A main street full of unique and beautiful stores, eatery and more. They have an amazing gift shop called Mosaic Makers Collective that features over 70 women-owned, Texas local, handmade, product based small business. I would hop over to Elephant East in Dallas for some Pan-Asian dining or Rise for some amazing souffle dishes. For exploring, I enjoy a beautiful day at the Dallas Arboretum or The Perot Museum. When I’m with my friends, I crave intentional quality time which usually involves coffee dates and dinner as that allows for more conversation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dedication is to my husband. He is one of my biggest supporters, not only in encouragement and love, but that he also gets in the booth and sells with me. We talk business plans and goals as well as what that looks like and how to get there. We often discuss over lunch or when I sneak into his office to ask questions. We talk design and what the future will look like. I feel his support and I am so grateful to have a spouse who is so loving and hands on with the growth and expansion of my business!
I would also love to give a shoutout to my parents. They have always supported my crazy dreams and ideas of entrepreneurship and business. I have always had a strong design side and they have loved me and encouraged me through school, college, and adulthood. When I started a small business out of college, my father would attend my markets and my mother would help with the bookkeeping. I have always felt their support and mentorship.
