We had the good fortune of connecting with Tinsley Allison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tinsley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The brand started in 2019 after my mom and I received a collection of designer clothing bequeathed from my Great Aunt.

The clothing was too small to wear, but that’s where inspiration kicked in. Instead of leaving the beautiful pieces in a dark storage container, we decided to find a new life for these pieces, making jewelry from the couture buttons. Hello, sustainable fashion! People started to ask where they could purchase the jewelry, and the business of Tinsley Allison Designs was officially born.

What started as a fun creative outlet has become a fashion brand with headbands, clothing, and even homegoods. All of the items are handmade, and as the brand has expanded, we make it a point to work with other woman-owned small businesses.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The company is known for and specializes in small-batch and one-of-a-kind handmade products. We handmake our clothing, jewelry, and accessories right here in Dallas! This not only sets us apart from other boutiques that wholesale items made in foreign countries, it also allows us to sell items that you can’t get anywhere else!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a born and raised Plano girl, so for me everything you’ll need is in Legacy West! Excellent restaurants and bars, high end shopping and salons and really cool events & concerts

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could have never started my company without the support of my family. The decision to leave my corporate career to venture out on my own was a big one. After a lot of prayer and encourage my from them, Tinsley Allison Designs was officially born.

Specifically my parents, who help me with the actual making of my products. My mom helps with sewing and my dad helps with jewelry. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do it!
