We had the good fortune of connecting with Ty Mathews and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ty, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The ideal of Cyclefree came from my own personal struggles with mental health. Overcoming my own cycles pushed me to pursue a career in helping other people overcome mental and generational hindrances, to pursue the life their heart truly desires. As a single mother of three, I felt trapped in a life I could not escape from. Screaming from the bottom of the darkest place in the world and no one could hear me. I was depressed and coped with alcohol, drugs, and whatever else this world had to offer. Once I started my healing journey, I vowed to open a space where people could seek help mentally and emotionally. I am currently pursuing a psychology degree while showing others as well as myself, a visual representation of what breaking cycles looks like.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like to think of myself as a gold ring connoisseur! If you are familiar with the video game Sonic the Hedgehog, then you would know how important collecting gold rings is. But just like Sonic, life puts out prickly objects that are designed to knock the rings out of you! The fear of losing your gold rings causes you to focus more on avoiding the prickly objects and less on collecting the gold rings. But what if I told you that maneuvering around the prickly objects will cause you to see a cycle/pattern in which they are thrown in your path. Breaking the cycle allows you to collect more gold rings. I have spent the past few years breaking cycles and hindrances that kept me bound to a life that was slowly killing. Cycle breaking is a skill that can be taught. I can see a prickly object from a mile away. I am a gold ring connoisseur, and you can be too!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I know my best friend well and she would want some brunch so our first stop would be @HB Treatz. They have this amazing chicken and Fruity Pebble French toast that she would enjoy. A beauty and spa day would be a must so a visit to @GlamRX Clinic with my glam nurse Kalena Parks for a glowing facial is an absolute must. We would also need a lash refill and a nap so, @Lashnapzzz would be another stop on our beauty and spa day. @Smoke A Holics BBQ on the SouthSide of Ft.Worth has the best chicken salad and their three meat plates are a crowd pleasure. For entertainment, the Cultural District in Ft. Worth has a little bit of everything dancing, bowling, and karaoke to name a few.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must use this space for my children. I adjusted our lives in a short amount of time. Without any hesitation, the three of you followed me blindly into what would become a better life for us all. I did not see a future for you or for myself but, the more I walked into my purpose, the more I saw what our future looked like as a whole. The three of you watched me self-destruct for years and when the time came to pull myself up, you all held my hand without judgement and followed me anyway. May the Lord continue to bless and prosper you! Cheers to being a part of this miraculous cycle-breaking journey!
