We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Maldonado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abigail, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking plays a big role in owning your own business. Everything is on you, Branding, marketing, advertising , services render, inventory, contracts and so much more! Even if you have the money to pay someone to assist you, it still falls on you. You still have to sign off and approve what you like and if you like it. Risk is my favorite thing regardless what it is, you learn from it. Either if it’s a mistake or if it was successful that risk became a lesson!

What should our readers know about your business?
How did DALLAS LASH SOCIETY START? oh that’s my baby, well first I was working in the medical field (in ophthalmology) yes it was a coincidence that I went from working on eyes to working on eyes . I have to admit I love what I do, but I will say it was not easy. I choose the lash career cause I had to pick and choose my STRUGGLE! To struggle working for someone for an hourly pay I did not deserve, to bust my *ss doing more then one person job to just go home to unpaid bills because it was either gas or food besides just a bill! I choose myself for once! I choose to take everything I learned in my corporate 9-5 jobs to open up a Bussiness to open up DLS! Oh was it easy? Hell no , it sure wasn’t! I made the choice of changing my career the day I woke up to no light it was a sign from the man above to make the change! Luckily I was blessed and paid it the same moment I notice it was disconnected. I called my mom I need money to make tamales to sale! My mother stated why? Everything ok? I said yes I’m going back to school to get my license to lash . She said nothing but ok let’s go get the stuff so that’s what we did! We sold over 1 thousand tamales in one weekend to come up with my school tuition, not knowing that I needed way more then just tuition money! I needed money to invest into products, into my brand into myself . So I continued working as much as possible to make sure bills are paid while I practice at school and taking in FREE CLIENTS! That’s right at that I still wasn’t profiting. It was nothing but bricks thrown my way not knowing what I was getting myself into but I was determined to better my life and make a change for my future family! As soon as I graduated we found out we were having a child then before she was born a pandemic! How were we going to survive a pandemic not working cause of my newborn + pandemic it was definitely a challenge but we did it! We now have our OWN salon suite located in the middle of Oakcliff off the strip of Jefferson we launched our brand products in the middle of the pandemic and we are still thriving! The lesson learned or lessons is that you never give up! You never compare yourself to others you never let your struggles prevent you from becoming who YOU ARE, what you can do! You wrap them struggles up in gold and hang them as if they were awards because, because … of those struggles you are who you are and it motivates you to become better person, human, partner, Bussiness Owner you grow a pasión to help others and a passion in what you do! DLS was intended to help me and instead it helps others! We thrive to make women feel better about themselves, we thrive to give our customers, the best products and I THRIVE to give my students the best education I can give them! DALLAS LASH SOCIETY WAS CREATED TO HELP WOMEN HELP WOMEN TO CREATE A SOCIETY OF WOMEN WHO UNDERSTAND AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER ! That’s what our brand is about bringing peace of mind to everyone not just women but men as well that anything is possible! We are here to help bring confidence and ambition to Artist / client that steps in our doors.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my family… My husband & my loving daughter, the unconditional love, support and motivation they have brought to my life does not have any words to explain the ambition it brings me. My clients for the continuous support, the referring friends and family will forever be recognized and appreciated because of y’all I do what I love!
