We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Matschek and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As long as I can remember I have wanted to start my own business, I created Tiffs Kitchen in the summer of 2021 following the birth of my daughter Grace. Before opening Tiffs Kitchen I had worked for 11 years in the restaurant industry and while I loved the people I met along the way and valued how much I’ve learned over the years, I knew it was going to be very challenging to raise a child and work the demanding restaurant hours. I quit my job as a sous chef and decided to stay home with my daughter until she was 6 months old before deciding I wanted to create something for myself and my family, it took my husband Jeremy and I a few months deciding on a business name before choosing Tiffs Kitchen. Tiffs Kitchen is a unique brand and we needed a name that represented us well because of the variety of services we offer like private chef services, catering, and meal prep. I wanted to create a business that could grow and change as I did and determine what services we want to offer long term. I have always had a passion for teaching, and knew I wanted to pour the knowledge I’ve learned over the years back into individuals with the same love for cooking as I have. Fun fact: I even taught other culinary arts students in college for a part time job.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Please tell us more about your business:
At Tiffs Kitchen we offer private chef services, meal prep, catering, cooking classes/lessons and, charcuterie boards and boxes. For the Private chef service I will come to your residence or place of booking and cook your next meal. These are perfect for anniversaries, private dinners, work events, or reoccurring daily cooking, we can accommodate it all. The difference between our cooking lessons and our cooking classes is that we offer a hands off or on option. Our cooking lessons are ideal for those who like to learn by watching and want to learn the art and science of cooking. We will take our knowledge for culinary arts and food science to give our clients an introduction into the world of food. Our cooking classes are perfect for those hands on learners who want to help prepare the meal along side our chefs. These are a really great option for multiple couples to book at once, we can accommodate a class for up to 14 adults or kids and plan an entire meal with various starters, entrees, and desserts.
We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about:
What makes these classes different from those already offered around DFW is that you are working as a group and each making your own individual item to add to the collective of the team meal, no two people are making the same dish. We also offer weekly meal prep, for those families who don’t have time to make a meal, to those in fitness and training that are looking for a specific calorie intake, or for those who are not good at cooking for just themselves. We have a variety of different clients that are here looking for different things. We take orders until 12 noon on Fridays for Sunday pickup or delivery, offering our clients fresh locally sourced meals with seasonal menu offerings.
I am most excited to see my business grow and have a kitchen space dedicated to Tiffs Kitchen. As we get busier and gain more clientele we will begin building a kitchen space to accommodate our unique service offerings and open our availability up more than it already is to serve more of the DFW area.
How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way:
Tiffs Kitchen was created with the understanding that we are offering new services and are going to continue to learn to navigate through what works best for us. I am constatnly learning how to navigate offering multiple different services and running my own business for the first time. It is definitely a lot of trial and error as well as progressive thinking on what I want my clients experience to be. My husband and I sit down weekly and talk about our goals for each of our businesses, we discuss what we need help on and how we get there and support each other in the process. I honestly think that it makes a world of difference having an outside perspective in learning what will work for your business. What can we offer, how can we stand out, what makes us unique? I value my clients and am constantly ask for feedback on my services. I take my clients answers into consideration when learning what needs to be changed and figuring out how to best serve my guest and meet my business demands.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?:
Food has always been a family affair, we have always gathered around the kitchen table to celebrate the many things life has given us. I love being able to create memories and meals for my customers while offering a unique culinary experience for each individual client. Not one product that I serve is the same as the next, each item I create is 100% custom as we all have different preferences and dietary needs. I am constantly changing my online menu to cater to those clients who like change and want something different.

I have a really big support system that is composed of friends, family, and chefs from around the world that have really poured into me and have always had my best interest in mind.
I learned how to cook from my grandmother (Maw) starting at the young age of 2, I can still remember sitting on the kitchen counters and cooking Sunday morning breakfast with her like it was yesterday. My grandmother helped raise me from birth until I was 13years old, over the years she became my best friend, never let me go without, never stopped loving me, and never missed anything. I have learned many things from my Maw over the years but the few things that have stuck with me is how she loved and served people, how warm her smile was and how welcome she made everyone feel. I hope to love and honor her as I use these things as a foundation of Tiffs Kitchen and how I run my business.
The thought of starting my own business and being a stay at home mom with our newborn came to light after Jeremy asked me, ” What is it that you want to do or become if failure wasn’t an option”. Starting a business isn’t a short-term commitment. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the constant support and love from my husband, Jeremy. He always pushes me to be the best version of myself and reminds me to never get comfortable where I am. From all the different business demands, long days, and crazy business hours, day in and out he continues to show his love and dedication to our family. Jeremy works as a Project manager and Team lead for Linear Roofing and General Contracting, his business goals and demands are changing everyday and despite how busy he is, he still dedicates quality time to have family days and help me grow my business. As many of you know when you start your business it can quickly become more than full time work, there are days that Jeremy comes home from work and makes dinner, takes our daughter out so I can have alone time, runs errands for Tiffs Kitchen and stays up with me on those late nights. We don’t have set roles in our family and do whatever is necessary to help the other succeed, it’s a team mentality.
