We had the good fortune of connecting with Brett Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brett, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome. – Arthur Ashe
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m like most creative types. I live, I discover and try to put most of it into my work. The only thing that separates me from everyone else is that I’m me. While what I do might not be new, or ground breaking, it’s the product of my experiences and observations. I’ve been DJing and making music for decades. Is it easy? No, but that’s part of the fun. Who wants to do easy things? Growth begins and the end of your comfort zone. I overcame my various challenges by not getting lazy, never giving up and always looking for new things in life to discover and become inspired from. The only thing I want the world to know about me was I had a great time and tried to help a few others do the same.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been lucky enough to run into some really talented people on my journey, who I’ve learned loads from. One personal in particular was DJ/Producer John Acquaviva, who I meet while touring when I was in my 20s. He gave me lots of advice about surviving the road and music publishing. Thanks again, John!
