We had the good fortune of connecting with Lea Emerson and Broadway, the owners of DeadCat Media, and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lea Emerson and Broadway, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor in DeadCat’s success is our commitment to our community. We truly believe in the people and the future of our community and we take ownership in making a difference. It’s reflected in our company motto, “Community Driven. Passionately Creative”, and we have faith that with those two attributes to our company not only will we continue to grow and see success but so will those around us. We’re all better together.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We knew we wanted to stand out, but doesn’t everyone? We started with a cheeky and mischievous name, DeadCat. We built a brand around our logo, otherwise known as Captain, and while we are perfectionists in our craft we also maintain an uncut and down-to-earth tone that is relatable.

Where we are today is a result of long hours, hard work and a lot of generosity. We’ve always had the mentality of sharing our craft and our time as much as we can. We really feel that our loyalty to serving our community has paid for itself over and over again with returning clients that trust us and believe in us. We still have dreams in the pipeline, but we’re proud and thankful for where we are!

Learning lessons (sometimes the hard way) is an inevitable part of owning and building a business. I think the biggest one that we’ve learned is that things happen and the best response is to take a breath, make corrections and keep moving forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is our favorite question!

First stop would be our Downtown area and we’d have to come back a few times to catch all the good stops.
We’d checkout the Fountain, go to Downtown Coffee for a rosemary and lavendar latte, stop by Rosewood Local Eatery for a gourmet hot dog, grab some wine for later at Tresor de Paris and then finish up with some shopping at all the boutiques.

After that, we’d have to stop by for the obligatory photo in front of the Eiffel Tower! We’re going to stop by Trail de Paris for a walk or bike ride and finish up with dinner at 107 (a local beer garden downtown) and check out the new lights downtown that brightens up the whole area.

We love to go out to Lake Crook or Pat Mayse Lake for a walk and relax in a hammock too.

I think more importantly than all the places, it’s the people that make Paris so special. Nothing really beats board games after a good home-cooked meal.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Lamar County Chamber of Commerce has been nothing but encouraging, championing, and supportive of our company and vision. Paul and Gina take time to cultivate great relationships and we cherish the friendship we have with them. We actually met through a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting and just three years later our company was formed.
