We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success and growth of my business has been being my most authentic self. This has brought in customers who can relate to my life. I am a wife, mother to 4 children, a Christian, and I happen to cuss…a lot. My customers and followers relate to this. When people see that I am just a wife/mother trying to build something for my family they really love it. I share it all, the good, the bad, and everything in between. Adding to this my husband has been another important factor because with all of his support I would not be where I am at today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Western Jewelry Designer. All of the pieces I create are all original pieces. I hand make everything myself. That’s what sets me apart from others. I love creating new and bold pieces for people who love to wear art. I have been in business for 3 years but I have been making jewelry for 10 years. These past 3 years were hard. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am at now. The first year was tough, especially, trying to figure out Instagram. Once I figured that out it was pretty easy taking care of it. One of the challenges and something that I still struggle with some is the growth of my business. It blew up and I wasn’t ready for that. I managed it as best as I could. I stayed up many late nights getting orders done and packaged up. I missed out on an entire summer with my kids the second year I was in business and it hurt my heart. I told myself I was going to have to set boundaries. When you own your business and work from home that is one thing that I recommend you do. You can not put your business before your family. You can not answer emails or Direct messages 24/7. Set those boundaries. After I set those things got so much better. I’m sure I sound all over the place right now. It’s not easy owning a business there are so many things people do not share about it. I’ve learned the hard way on how to handle certain things. The main thing I have learned though is YOU CAN NOT DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF. If you are at the point where you can hire someone to help you DO IT! Need help with marketing and emails, hire someone. Need help packaging orders, HIRE SOMEONE. You will burn yourself out trying to do everything yourself. Don’t do that.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, hands down. He has been my rock and is always there when I need to cry or celebrate. He is encouraging and gives advice when I ask and even when I don’t ask for it. I don’t know what I would do without him. He is a huge help with the kids when I have to go out of town for a show. He deserves to be recognized for everything that he does. I may not say it enough I just hope he knows how much I appreciate it all. Then there are
