We had the good fortune of connecting with Charity Hagains MA, LPC-S and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charity, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe our success is primarily due to the high value we place on authenticity. Our goal has always been to work ourselves out of a job. The idea of helping our community become so mentally healthy that we are rendered unnecessary has always driven our work. We believe that every client has the capacity for profound change and that belief drives all that we do.
Offering our clients a safe place to express themselves without judgement and working collaboratively with them, helps them achieve their goals. Their success is how we measure our success.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We started our practice with a desire to help people on a broad scale. Having worked in private practices where the mind/body connection and lifestyle was overlooked, we wanted to create a space where that important variable was highlighted. At the time there were few, if any, holistic practices in the DFW area. What separated us from the masses was our desire to educate the public at large, and hone in on ways to expand mental health care by focusing our work on not only the mind, but the whole person.
We saw incredible success right away. Our clients were getting healthier faster, and the changes in their lives were lasting. We approached mental health as more than some kind of “illness”, but rather a normal function of our humanity that must be maintained. This difference in perspective allowed us to witness as clients who struggled for so long, finally began not only surviving, but thriving.
As one of the first practices in the area to do this, we saw many others mimic our approach. While most businesses would not be comfortable with this, we knew that meant our model was working and other people were benefiting from it…which was the whole point.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love walks along the Katy and Trinity Trail. Definitely have to do some shopping at North Park. No Texas trip is complete without seeing a cattle drive in the Stockyards.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our therapists! We work with some of the most amazing men and women in our field. The opportunity afforded to us as mentors is a trust that we could never have imagined. We learn so much working along side them. Our collaborative teamwork is how we have grown and evolved, not just as a business but as therapists and people.
