Meet Lisa Hauck | Certified Nutrition Coach, Specializing in Mindset

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Hauck and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had gone to school to become an ASL Interpreter initially. I was good at it and it paid well, but somehow I was unfulfilled and found myself asking is this it? What I will do the rest of my life and I knew the answer was no. I at that time was a mama of 2 via c-section and had lost myself in motherhood and taking care of a home and husband. It left little for self care so I partnered with a wellness company and over the course of a year lost a significant amount of weight, retired myself from my interpreting job. I was happy for a while felt like I was living my dream sure it was hard and of course there were challenges and failures along the way. The real revelation happened when I had a double mastectomy with some complications. I was forced to slow down, WAY down and that is when I put some weight back on, when I began also to realize what was truly important to me and from that my business was born.
As I recovered I had an opportunity to take an inventory or my life, my work and my family. I realized that the company I partnered with was one that was a numbers game and really I didn’t feel I aligned with the values. This was a very difficult revelation for me. This was also during Covid coupe with lots of health issues. I turned inward and began doing the work.
I hired a coach and she taught me a method of managing the mindset in relation to business however, I used this tool to pull myself from the darkest seasons of my life. I went on a quest to unlearn everything that was no longer serving me and that meant everything I had learned about nutrition, self love, motivation behind why women are constantly on diets. I wanted to learn a new way for myself. I went back to school and was certified as a nutrition coach and it was so eye opening. I coupled that with mindset and worked to heal my relationship with food and myself.
Women who followed me began to notice how I had changed and were asking me to coach them and so my business was born. It is now my mission to help women break up with yo-yo dieting and perfectionism and learn self love while working on their wellness journey.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I coach women on a deep level to help heal their relationship with food and themselves, while learning how to achieve results with ease and without the mind drama.
I am most excited about this because of the mindset piece, any nutrition coach can give a client guidelines, a meal plan, water goal etc. and ask for weekly stats. That is the opposite of what I do in my program, Gentle Macros to Mindful Eating. I have learned that we think all we need is to find the right plan and this will “fix” the problem. When really what my clients need is a unique plan built around their life that is sustainable and a tool that helps them to understand the motivation behind why the are feeling stuck in the first [;acce. The thoughts we have are a driving force behind our actions and THAT is what keeps clients stuck. Shining a light on those and rewiring them is what sets them free. It’s the inner work that shines the brightest, seeing the lightbulb go off for my clients is the greatest gift of this business.
Stepping into this role was not easy for me at all, Yes, I had developed something that worked for me and others noticed. Could I actually apply this to others and have the same result? I wasn’t sure…. so I tried. Allowing yourself to be a beginner, to take a risk, to show up how God is calling you to is no easy feat. There can be a lot of doubt along the way. I am most proud of myself for believing in what I am capable of, my mission and my abilities to step into this role with confidence. during this time and still I use my own mindset tool I teach to my clients and this allows me to basically get out of my own way and show up in the world the way I want to.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting for a week for sure we would be headed to the mountains for a hike and an amazing winery, we would hit up a hot yoga class that my friend Erin teaches and then head to lunch downtown with shopping after. Another day we would head up to DC and catch an amazing show or concert and get the best paella you ever had in your life! Our location is right between Richmond and DC there is so much to explore and of course my favorite past time is just sitting on my deck that I cherish so much. We are surrounded by woods and flowers, a perfect place to connect and have deep meaningful conversations which I think is the best part about catching up with old friends. Not just asking how are you but asking how are you really? THIS type of connection and understanding you can cultivate with other humans I think is solely what we are all after.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shout out to Rachael Bodie, a woman who coached me during a time in my life where I had felt so lost. She helped me to peel back the layers of myself which gave me direction and clarity. I was able to heal myself and in turn learn to heal others because of my experiences and her lasting impact on my life.
