We had the good fortune of connecting with Maybel Beltran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maybel, what do you love most about your work?
I love what I do for many reasons. I love the artistry, the techniques, the constant training, the new trends, all of it. I do believe the main reason I Iove what I do is having the ability to help my canvas feel beautiful on one of their most specials days. It’s extremely rewarding being able to make someone feel their best. That in itself is the biggest reward.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my style of makeup. I love to accent the eyes, making it the main focus, while at the same time making the skin look smooth and flawless. The more attention on the eyes the better, but ofcourse, it’s always tasteful. I love when makeup can look beautifully executed on both camera and in real life. I’ve tried many techniques and have finally mastered how to execute a beautiful “event look” that can last all day. I believe what I’m most proud of are the relationships I have built with many of my beautiful clients. I’m proud of the fact that they are willing to wait to get glammed by me, and the loyalty they have to my brand. I love each and every one of them for it. I was able to get where I am professionally because of the connections and friendships that I have built over the years. My business has grown through my social media platforms and the referrals of friends and clients. I also believe working for various makeup brands has played a part in my work. The greatest challenge I have had to face is the freelance portion of my job. I’ve had to learn how to properly manage my time, and integrate my work with the other aspects of my life. There were times when I took on too many clients at once, and I realized the quality of my work mattered more than the amount of people I could get in my chair in a span of time, I have learned to refer and bring other freelance artist into my team and further grew my business in that way. The end goal is to keep my clients happy and beautiful without stressing anyone. The lessons I have learned along the way have helped shaped my brand, and I’m greatful for each one of them. I want the world to know that I truly do love what I do. It brings me happiness that there is a need for my work specifically. It makes me look forward to continue this career path to see what lies ahead. My goal is to make sure everyone knows they are beautiful before, during, and after our appointment together. I love to customize each makeup look depending on the clients features and what they are wanting, so the end result is more of a collaboration we can both be happy with. I will not put my brush down or let a client out of my chair until we are both happy with the outcome of the appointment. Customer service is extremely inportant to by business, and will continue to be the foundation of “MakeupbyMaybel”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was visiting DFW, I would take her everywhere. Half the week in Fort Worth, and the other half of the week in Dallas. Starting with Fort Worth, I would make sure we visited West 7th street, the Stockyards, Magnolia, and Sundance Square and the Botanical Gardens to hang out. We would go eat the top local places to eat such as Joe T Garcia’s, Blue Sushi, Riscky’s BBQ, and maybe some cute family owned places. Then later that week we would go to Dallas to visit Uptown, Deep Ellum, and the Dallas Arboretum, maybe some of the art museums! Places to eat would be Nick & Sam’s, The Woolworth, and many more. The places to visit are endless.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think out of all the influential people I have worked with, the one who has inspired me the most is Veronica Verdaguer. She is a renowned artist in Dallas with years of experience under her belt. She’s an amazing friend and a mentor, and it’s been an honor getting to know her over the years.
